CN Forum: Rise & Fall

Not open for further replies.
When I registered on these board, back in October 2009, I found this forum interesting with knowledgeable posters, who - even though there was already some trolling on the "clinic" - were interested in EACH & EVERY race of the calendar.

What do I see now?

We are in November and all we have on the PRR section is a 255 reply thread of trolling about Bore de France, which is to happen ... next July.:rolleyes::eek:

And a video thread, which is only meant for stages, so for GT.

+ a few fanboy threads.

CN Forum : Quo Vadis?

This is really worse than Velo-Club. I mean. How could the standard get so low?

Anyone to give me Spanish lessons? I might consider registering on Forodeciclismo. :D

What's wrong with a video thread? It gives us some racing to watch in the off season where there isn't any. Plus the only fanboy thread is the Contador one, in the other ones that could be considered fanboy threads there is actually some real discussion that happens.

Well, firstly it is November. This is a rather quiet part of the season. Secondly, I moved over to Velorooms for a while. It had some nice aspects, but it became a heavily over-regulated forum that is not remotely fun at all. Some of the people on their carried on like teenage girls which is why I left. I have come back to this forum and I am absolutely enjoying my time back on here. I have not been on the forums as much as past years, but I hope that will change next year.

In conclusion, don't take for granted what a enjoyable forum this is.

I post over there, there is virtually no moderation. You left because you got warned for constantly starting arguments in their chatroom, people threatened to leave unless you got banned. And then you got banned :D

what a pathetic forum when the staff bans some1 because other members threaten to leave if he doesn't get banned and not because they actually had a reason to do it.

Pff pathetic forum it is a great forum. It is friendly and the moderators try to moderate in a friendly way. Way different and way better than here. And by the way Afrank in the Alberto thread there is also discussion about serious things.

I very much doubt that was the reason. Following on twitter, ACF agreed with the ban. The guy was starting fights with just about everyone. But anyway, I don't think thats an argument for here. I only stopped by to put another side of the story after ACF criticized their members and called them children.

Every forum is going to have its complaints.. what is important is that the mods then take those complaints on board and act on them in order to ensure that the forum grows and becomes a better place for all posters to enjoy and gain from.

ban

i was banned from cn forum because other members did not like me and my

posts calling me out for being a 'sockpuppet'

i still like the forum and have no beef with moderators

remember it's a forum for everyone..............too many members shout 'troll'

just because a member has alternative views

Sure but not nearly as much discussion as in other threads, much of it is just pictures of Contador. And talking about how great he is.

If you look at the number of discussion posts it's just as much as in other discussion threads there is just also a lot of other stuff in there.

I count there has been 32 posts of no meaningful discussion since the last discussion took place (5 posts of discussion by the way)
And in the last 10 pages, 62 posts have not involved any real discussion about Contador. At 10 posts a page that is 62 posts out of 100 that have not contained any meaningful discussion. And these numbers would be even higher if we looked back towards after the Vuelta ended.

But I digress, the main point of my original post was that the Contador thread is the closest we have to a fanboy/fangirl thread where there are overall more fan posts and less discussion posts. And you can't deny that more picture, tweets, and videos get posted in it than any other discussion thread.

I had to supress a laugh when I read that ACF quit a forum because "the people on their [sic] carried on like teenage girls."

The fun got sucked out of this place. Damiano Machiavelli tried to bring it back, but he was killed in a bike-auto collision.

As I stated below, what TheGame said was not factually correct.

I got warned for starting arguments. I think we can substitute that word for debates. I did not get banned. I told Dimspace to deactivate my account. You can even ask him. You are correct about the people threatening to leave because of me but it was my decision and I am more than enjoying my time on this forum.

IN fact, I will post what I said to Dim in my 'direct messages' on twitter.

I will be heading back to CN Forum. I will officially send you a request of deletion of my account within the next 24hrs.

I am sad to give you this news but tonight was the straw that broke the camel's back. Sorry to leave your forum as it is a good setup.

[....replies]

I honestly don't see how I was posting differently in the past few days than I am now. I honestly do not see it as "tour fever" as the way some people are behaving is rather childish on and off the forum and what happened last night on the tdf chat room ****ed me off big time.
