Correcting quotes

I have question about this article:

In the original article, published at 17.28 Landis was quoted as:

Writing a backdated TUE for a Tour winner last year sounds suspiciously like what happened in 1999 as wel,” Landis saidl

This was an inaccuracy noted by @tailwindhome on twitter at 18.10

Subsequently the article was revised at 18.12 to this:

"Writing a fast-tracked TUE for a Tour winner last year sounds suspiciously like what happened in 1999 as well,” Landis said

(The original version is less loaded with implication)

So why the change? Editing quotes is unethical. Correcting mistakes is not only unethical, but illustrates bias.

Sorry, are you saying Daniel Benson first mis-quoted Floyd and then changed it or that he has changed the quote from what Floyd actually said?
