In all likelyhood she will not be able to get any results, but I have no doubts she can be a good helper in hilly races.
My opinion is that if anyone is good enough to compete amongst the best, they should be given the opportunity, regardless of their sex.
Altitude said:This is a really stupid idea. First of all she wouldn't stand a chance physically, secondly nobody in the peloton would respect her - that may be unfair but it's true none the less.
Ruudz0r said:Last year in a cyclo cross race the woman started 1 minute before the 14-15 year old boys (dont know how this category is called in English), and a 15 year old boy (Mathieu van der Poel) finished in front of her with quite some margin so he gained more then a minute on her.
So no way she could ride with the pro's on the road.

FignonLeGrand said:Well presuming that is the son of Adri (?) so might be a little better than average 15yo. Adri van der Poel was a monster in cyclocross.
User Guide said:I have no doubt Vos could beat Theo Bos up the Stelvio(or over a sleeping policeman) no doubt shed out sprint(and think)Frandy Schleck and out TT Jauquim Rodriguez. However shed be in the bottomn third of every facet of riding in the peleton and therefore of Zero use too a Pro mens team.
I am also not convinced its good PR for womens cycling, what its so poor the top woman is tired of gubbing everyone so has too race men?
Besides she only has 1 world or Olympic gold too show for all her dominace on the road. There are a couple of strong teams this year including AA drink getting garmins ridiers,I expect no love lost between 2 dutch teams.
Ps having said all that she is an awesome rider and a credit too cycling

Marianne Vos on the Worlds TT: course length: 27.8 and flat: avg 43.86 km/h
Jrod Giro d'Italia stage 21: course length: 26 km and pretty flat: avg 48.07 km/h
FignonLeGrand said:ah typical sexist comment, how do you know peloton would accept her. They have Mandy Shleck
Kwibus said:She was tested by Rabobank just like they test the man.
She puts out 6.6kg/watts which we all know is quite impressive. Conclusion of the trainer is that she will most likely out climb the sprinters and cobbled riders of Rabobank, but then again she wouldn't be able to follow them on their specialties.
I'm not 100% sure about this, but with 6.6kg/watts it's certain that she can climb really well.
They also did an test on the bike trainer which gets harder every 3 minutes. She managed to hold on for 33 minutes which not every man in the Rabobank team was able to do.
She has an extraordinary ability and doesn't really get challenged in woman cycling atm. Allthough 5 2nd places at the WC might proof otherwise, but that's more of an exception.
Last year during Olympias Tour she rode the TT 1 minute slower than Luke Durbride who won the TT. It was an 12.1k TT so 1 minute is pretty much if you consider that Olympias Tour is races by U23 riders.
She would've ended 56th if she actually participated.

Here is the result of that TT. She rode a time of 15:54 on the same course. I don't know if the circumstances were the same.
Luke Durbridge rode the Worlds with an average of 49 km/h, I guess he's hardly better than RodriguezRuudz0r said:No way on some points for example she could not out TT JRod

The numbers are correct, but we don't know if maybe the protocol is slightly different for the women. Could be.Michele said:Are you sure these numbers are correct?
