What type of crouched riding to you mean?

The most effective and fastest position on the descent is sitting on the top tube of the bike with upper body above the handlebars.

Matej Mohoric's descending technique isn't to bad either. ;)

But it's definitely faster. Obviously more dangerous as well.

By the way Froome pulled out the same pedaling technique as Mohoric in the Tour. I think I remember the Chicken doing the same.

I have tried all those positions and my friends. Riding in real world conditions the difference was not that significant. Sitting on the top tube though makes you pay attention more to the road ahead.

Uhm... quick question guys.
Doesn't sitting on the tube kinda hurt?

Warning if your going to try it ,,,make sure you have the skill and strength to get back onto your seat....

Yep. I don't do it much often because I'm afraid to lose control getting back on the saddle.

That and failing to reach the levers when gripping the handlebar. Scary thought.

Haas did it as well when he was attacking the break. This is something you only attempt when you ride 30+ hours a week! The bike gets very unstable if you don't do it right

During a downhill section of the Tour of Utah I watched a rider pedal while in this position. My thought ..I really like not having road rash. I won't attempt this ever. For the condition of some of the roads they were riding, It was like holding a beer for the guy who said "Hold my beer and watch this".
