CX Rider of the year? WTF?

The poll was run much earlier, before Sanne Cant had her string of wins.

Fair enough. She's also gone off the boil a bit lately. But she's young. I would not be surprised to see her success develop into a stellar career over the next few seasons. On the other hand, KCs best races may be behind her.

The problem with these type of polls is that they usually lump all of cycling in one poll. I may follow road and cross, but have no clue about track or BMX.... under those conditions, presented with questions and options on disciplines one doesn't follow, it would not be unusual to go by 'top of mind': select the names you recognize, which might be the ones winning at the time the poll is run. The results don't speak that much about future potential or accomplishments in the previous 12 months. It's a popularity contest.

True enough. I see that Sanne has just picked up her 6th Belgian national cyclocross championship. At the age of 24.

On the other hand, KC was 26 by the time she won her first US CX championship. I dunno, Moose. Is "incomparable" really that far wide of the mark when describing Ms Cant's CX career-to-date? OK, she's no Marianne Vos, but I'm not sure that "lol" is really the right response.
