Go on, how big or small is your Ctcling DVD/WHS collectiom.

So far:

Tours de France: 1989, 2001, 2003, 2005-2008
Giro d'Italia: 2005
Tour of Flanders: 2006
Het Volk & Ghent Wevelgem (one DVD): 2008
Tour Down Under: 2009

I also have Overcoming (the Jens Voigt bit is my favourite), Crash (if you can put up with Bob Roll for a few hours and resist the urge to blow your brains out), The Flying Scotsman, and back when I was a stupid ignorant fanboy, The Science of Lance Armstrong. I guess it is worth a good laugh or two.

Races I have d/l:

Tour of Lombardy: 2006
Milan San Remo: 2008
Memorial Marco Pantani: 2006
Het Volk: 2008 (this time in Dutch/Flemish)

on DVD I have some TDF specials, specials on Boogerd, Anquetil, Merckx, Zoetemelk, Hinault, Indurain and Armstrong and Tour des legendes. On VHS the TDF 2002.

But since cyclingtorrents.nl is up, it's all about downloading ;)

So far:

I'm thinking of getting one of those HDDs you can plug directly into your TV. That would be great.

I have a HDD/DVD recorder. Hate the menu system and lack of storage space. I think I can only fit 120GB worth of data. So I didn't even get the entire Tour in SD resolution. Also a relative started recording other shows and stages I had recorded started disappearing...very annoying as the first to go was Verbier and Arcalis (best stages in the Tour). I haven't looked at whats on the market lately, but surely if there is a good priced HDD/DVD recorder (it should do both) and it has 500GB capacity from a good brand, then grab it pronto. Erased all of this years tour stages as I needed the space and figured I'd buy the full DVD set when it comes out.

What do I have on DVD? All the recent tours, but not the full stages...those DVD's cost a lot more in Australia. I really want to get the 2008 Vuelta and Giro but nowhere locally sells them. Every where I find copies online looks dodgy. Anyone know a good reliable site? The DVD has to be in English or at least have English subtitles.

Awesome site, so much good stuff on there and you will also be banned if you dont keep a good ratio which willl hopefully keep leechers away. You should also join demonoid when it gets back up. They have so much cycling on there, i was in the middle of getting the vuelta when the site went down for its major maintenence.

Im also thinking about doing that. It would save the hassle of converting all my avi, mp4, xvid, divx files to dvd. It is good that im putting it on dvd but the process takes so long. Might get one around christmas but my funds at the moment are going toward a new bike. So sacrifices must be made.

I also saw an interesting item in one of the catalogues for an electronics stores (name escapes me at present). You plug your HD in to it, then plug it (the device) into the tv and it will display the image or videos on your tv.

Ok now onto my collection, keep in mind i downloaded all of this and have converted it onto dvd (all of it is complete unless it says).

Memorial Marco Pantani, Giro d'Lombardia and MSR are all in Italian. Gilbert's breakaway in Het Volk is one of my favourite races I have, that was madness. The broadband I have here is rather mediocre TSTL so I have to be picky in the races I download.

I have a number of old VHS videos of races from the 1980s. Does anyone know what I need to do to be able to transfer them from cassette to DVD, or at least get them onto my computer?

Look into local companies that provide a duplicating service. There must be 10 or so places where I live that will transfer VHS to DVD. Usually around 10 bucks per disk.

This would be a great time for Alpe d'Huez to step in and share his collection again. Earlier this year he posted his list, which was available to the forum members to purchase for a nominal fee. He'd have most of what you're looking for I bet. Send him a PM.

just link the pc direct to the tv and use media center.. thats all we do...

the stuff youve got that isnt on cycling torrents, and you going to torrent it and share it..?

PS3 is another option... just plug in a USB stick with whatever you want to watch on it and you're away. That's what we got at home instead of a Media HDD to keep plugged into the TV.

DVDs in my collection...

Hell on Wheels
Overcoming
A Sunday in Hell
Detour de France
Detour the Movie
A centennial Tour highlights DVD that came free with a Cycle Sport magazine a few years ago.

the very cheesy American Flyers
and the very brilliant Triplets of Belleville.

just get a divx compatible dvd player... our toshiba cost £30 from tesco (uk) and plays divx6, and ive played divx7 no problem at all without a firmware upgrade... mpeg, and avi with no problems at all...

we just chuck everything on divx discs, and watch it from there.. much quicker than dvd, and you can fit ten times the amount on a disc

here ya go.. http://www.dealsdirect.com.au/p/dvd-player-mpeg4-divx-highlander-dvx-4533/
plays divx, avi and mpeg4 direct from disc...
ive no idea who highlander are and what divx it goes to.. i assume 6 or 7, but just an example of how cheap they are..

Old VHS TDF Tapes wanted!

Following on this thread has anyone got some old (official) VHS tapes of le tour they no longer want?

To explain I am an ex racer now a triathlete who due to the rubbish UK winter have done more turbo and treadmill training in the garage than ever before (helps pass the time). I use an old portable tv with built in vhs to play back my old library of TDF tapes (recorded from ch4 with a few stages missing) supplemented with a few official releases, but I have a few years missing.
I think they are missing becuase I was racing at the time and didn't set the recorder up or did Ch4 lose coverage for a few years? Bromley were selling a few old tapes for a few £ which has helped.
As far as I can tell 2002 was the last year TDF was put out on vhs, afterwards it was exclusively dvd. Anyway, oddly I can't get hold of 1997 or 2001. I would be interest if anyone has TDF of pre Le Mond era too. I have the rest of 1989-2002.
Cheers...

I've got a fairly big collection - its main focus is as follows:

Tour de France - coverage of most races back to 1969 (the earlier years being in French and of variable quality)
Giro d'Italia - coverage of most races back to 1983 (with some years in Spanish/Italian)
Vuelta a Espana - coverage of most races back to 1996 in English
Tour de Suisse - coverage of most races back to 1995
Dauphine Libere - coverage of most races back to 2003
Olympics - pretty much all of the races since professionals were allowed
World Champs - pretty much all the races since 1975 (earlier coverage in various language)
I also love any races where Pantani or Jimenez (Chaba) feature.

There are a few bits of coverage that I'm missing however and if anyone has good coverage that they would like to sell/swap please PM me.

Lucky
