Cycling is saving my life!

Cycling is saving my life! My daughter (11 years old) has been an inline speed skater for three years. 15 months ago I was pushing her to skate harder and she said, “ You get out her and try it” . well skating wasn't an option (80lbs overweight) so I borrowed a bike ( trek 1.5) and started to follow, I was suffering miserably as I tried chasing several skaters for 15 miles. They would drop me after a mile, (my daughter found this amusing) but I kept going. After three months I bought a used 09 Giant TCR Advanced 1 with SRAM force, and a pair of used shimano cycling shoes. Four to five times a week I ride 15 to 30 miles. I find myself structuring my entire day so I can ride in the evening after work. Slowly I have upgraded to SRAM red. The item that has made a huge difference is custom cycling shoes from Simmons .I never would have thought shoes could make so much difference. they are worth every penny. So after 15 months I have lost 70lbs and found an activity I love deeply. I'm 38 years young and plan on riding for life!!

Quick tips:

1. Forget about any other hobbies you may have had. They'll become meaningless soon enough.

2. Forget about most of your friends. You'll need new ones because the old ones won't know what the hell you're talking about come July.

3. Give someone else control over your bank account. SRAM red? That could be very dangerous at this point in the game. Seriously, relinquish all financial control.

4. Remember, it's not about the bike. It's about how many bikes you have.

5. HAVE FUN!!! :D

Nice! Your daughter and her children will thank you for setting such a fine example.

Remember to be a great cyclist spin, do intervals and run up your heart rate 20 minutes per day. You always want snap and pursuiting power, that is class. Also to be a great rider you must ride slowly some days. That is much more important than SRAM RED or carbon wheels.
