Cycling online tv links

Perhaps it's a good idea to collect and store links of online feeds. The problem for many outside Europe, seems to be that tv coverage is very poor. In the US, only Versus shows a selection of races, but the commentary is abysmal. Unless of course if you are interested in hearing what an abanico/echelon is, how drafting works and where Lance Armstrong is located in the peloton. It's like watching a tennis match, while the commentator explains what the difference between a backhand and a forehand is.

Here are some links I tend to use to retrieve live coverage feeds:

http://www.myp2p.eu/index.php?part=sports

http://www.steephill.tv

Sometimes links have IP georestrictions, but I noticed that the cyclocross season for example could be viewed without limitations on the belgian stations.

if you have more links, just post them here

Good Giro Combo

For the last several years, I have been watching/listening to the Giro like this:

LIVE RAI video feed with the sound muted
mms://rntlivewm.rai.it/giro2007live#cf

LIVE Europsort audio to go with the RAI feed:

http://eurosport.yahoo.com/audioplayer.html

RAI does a fantastic job covering the race. The video is great. And of course, Sean Kelly and David Harmon commentating on Eurosport.

It's free. Otherwise, I would pay for the Giro coverage on cycling.tv (not included in the Premium package I subscribe to).

Hope this helps!

Update from cyclingfans website today:

"Flying to Paris today. (Embarrassed to say I missed my flight last week.) Meeting later this month with people at France Télévisions and Eurosport. Lots going on behind the scenes regarding upcoming live coverage, including May's Giro d'Italia in under two months. Can't give details yet but if what's under discussion for the Giro happens, it'll be good. -Pete"

That should be great for us all!

In order to increase the fanbase in anglophone countries, hence potential profits, of an already tarnished sport it wouldn't be a bad idea to offer free online coverage... I also don't think pro-team's sponsors would mind the extra hours on tv ;)

Rai 3 probably has the best cycling commentary in the world. They had Paolo Bettini in the booth at the Tirreno-Adriatico today.

For San Remo they list 4 options this saturday

http://www.myp2p.eu/broadcast.php?matchid=33609&part=sports

I believe Eurosport Fr airs it, which is available via TV ants (a piece of p2p streaming software). I have had noticed the quality is exceptional (around 700 kb/s streaming) and hooked up to a TV somehow manages to satisfy my demand for big screen cycling coverage.

It's also available on Rai Tre, but possibly not available to viewers outside Italy. Possibly rtbf.be sporza.be and nos.nl will air it too, likely with georestrictions.

Moderators, could we sticky this, because otherwise we'll have threads for links before every minor and major cycling event...

If you're willing to pay to get great coverage, Cycling.tv has packages worth considering.

If you're in North America, the best deal is the three-month plan for $45. If you buy Saturday morning this gets you Milan-San Remo live, plus all the major classics, plus the Giro, plus the Daupine and Suisse, before your deal ends leading into the Tour, which you can see live on Versus. All of it live, or on demand if you want to watch later in the day.

rtbf seem to cover most things life from around 1.30pm.. certainly all the classics, and theres a good message board attatched to there streams so you can chat as you watch (assuming you can speak english, french, german, and dutch ;))

Have looked at the cyclingnewstv thing, but there doesnt seem to be a package to suit me.. as someone with eurosport we are well served for the major tours, and all the main classics (until they clash with something like paris-roubaix last year where we got about the last 10k because there was the asian national horse jumping championships or something - and i have learnt with eurosport if you want to record something thats on from 3 till 4, set sky plus to start recording at about 1, and dont stop till 6, that way you might catch it... - but anyway. .shame cyclingtv dont have a package of the races that arnt on british tv.. would buy that to fill in the gap.. )

I just read an article which says that the AGR is available worldwide, online at teh AGR website. The NOS (dutch public broadcaster) will also have the race live, but I don't know about any geo restrictions.

For the article:
http://www.wielerland.nl/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=5698&Itemid=36

it includes a link to the AGR website. I'll see if I can find the exact location for the non-dutch speaking community.

>>> link for live images (now showing the cyclosportif version @ http://www.amstelgoldrace.nl/index.php?pageId=63 <<<<<

Suposedly, they also air today's team presentation between 1400-1530 amsterdam time.

>>> OK update, we just missed it because it's 1545 now =( <<<<<

For the dutch speaking members, RTL7 (their website @ http://www.rtl.nl/service/gemist/home/) offers a rerun of the new 'wielerland tv' show, with Michael Boogerd as a presenter and will feature Stijn Devolder.
