Dan Martin wants YOU!

Hey folks, do you want to become a cycling journalist? No, CN isn't offering you a position, but a real-live honest-to-God pro is! Check this out:

"In the coming weeks, Dan Martin's (Team Garmin) official website will become active with daily news updates at : http://www.dan-martin.org

For this to happen, we are looking for volunteers to:

1. Update the site with short articles including race preview/results/reports,
status information...

They should be passionate about cycling, know how to write, and enjoy being part of a select group of hard workers. If you can speak French it would be a bonus.

2. Have a knowledge of technology so that they can record races from TV/internet with the aim of creating a video/montage on the site."

If you are interested, get in touch with Dan at:
dan.martin.website@gmail.com

:D

You post a detailed job requirement with some difficult qualifications, and it's for a volunteer and you wonder why it's necessary to bump the thread?

:D:D

I can't see it working.

I have responded to this, and I would expect any other fan of Dan Martin is likely to have too.

The reason being it is something I have an interest in, on a subject that I have an interest in, plus I would have the time to do it.

Also, it could lead to working in the industry in PR, or if you do well and apply for a journalism position with say a leading cycling website or magazine (if only I knew one off the top of my head :p) then it would show desire and experience.

A bump, but just to let you all know, if anyone else is interested there are still spots available to help out on the website if anyone has an interest, and seeing the knowledge of people on here about cycling it would be good to see a couple of you there.

This is like the Craigslist postings for writers. PR & Ad agencies, newspapers, start up mags and blogs are posting positions like crazy all over the country with no pay; you get "exposure" and "Portfolio Development" and they drive the hourly rates of qualified writers into the toilet. And they get the revenue. With the kind of money floating around cycling, there HAS to be some $$$ for good, clever and insightful writing. Big_Blue_Dave, no harsh on you for lining up for the gig, my only hope is that eventually they see fit to pay you market rate for sports writing. When I was 16 in 1972, that was $.45 a word for my weekly sports column in the Snoqualmie Valley Record.
