Some good debates in this thread already :)
Gotta link?

------------------------

1. Matching wits with BroDeal seems to be, more often than not, futile for those unwitting souls for whom the subtlety of his delivery is completely lost.

2. rhubroma: a force to be reckoned with.

3. And who would expect to win in a head-to-head with The Libertine? A fool. That's who.

actually, if anyone is SERIOUSLY paying attention to the thread title - the best debater on the CN forum - most of the nominees so far were the product of a profound confusion as to what wins a real public debate - a forum where the challengers win not on the merits of their arguments but on the number of heads and soles they capture.

people have been substituting The BEST DEBATER for what they personally consider the most connected poster to their own interests or the most intelligent (in their opinion) poster, or the most vocal, thousand-posts user or the most refined troll craft practitioner...

none of the above meet my criteria. personally, i do not care much for those trying to win the cyber attention or winning the inter-webs arguments. but, as a perpetual student of human behavior, i do occasionally pay attention to what wins humans in the webz.

in my observation, having been stripped of 'human touch' the best debater is the one who:

-sticks to his narrative
-experiences plenty of fire yet goes on
-manages well being ganged upon by the disagreeable
-develops respects of both friends and foe.
-skillfully navigates the E trolls
-accrues the diverse user response by being quoted often
-contributes to clicking in general...

so, to summarize, imo, the winner is the political scot from cali, the beer lover, followed closely by chewee who would have been the UNCHALLENGED winner had he given any crap to the political correctness crap;)

We're stomping on each others' heads now? I should log in more often.

The best debater is anyone who can convince Frank Day that powercranks are crap.

Wow.

I'm humbled to share a podium with TFF. I have to say, I've left it all on the field. It's been a war in the politics thread, battle after battle. It's no guarantee that you get to the big dance. Some would say its been nothing more than SoCal being SoCal. The key is understanding that its all a mental game. Velo and the others... They came to play, no doubt. You might say there were rookie mistakes made, but it really came down to who wanted it more. Giving it 110% can only end with one result... Winning the ballgame.

Cheers!
