McQuaid has just been reported as saying "Simply put: the system does not have to adequately represent the interest of the teams and their employees or of any other particular stakeholder, it has to represent the best interests of the sport which is primordial."

McQuaid is fast becoming the Gadaffi of cycle sport. The riders, teams and sponsors ARE the sport. The UCI's job should be to create rules that these stakeholders democratically decide they want and then ensure adherence, not dictate down to them, where is the UCI's mandate for that? The UCI has gradually over the years gone from being a servant of the sport to being a dictator.

DO NOT LET IT HAPPEN. START CAMPAIGNING NOW. FACEBOOK, TWITTER, EVERYWHERE!

The riders are treated as what they are...contract employees. If they chose to vote with their absence at a race and give up some salary I'll be convinced they've become somewhat serious. They should then embrace their Association's stand on drug testing and penalties seriously or sit out some more races to enforce that change on the UCI. If they can't do that than you can save your twits, tweets, facetime or other pointless social media.

I'm pro race radio.

The UCi have not given a focused plan as to why it should be banned. That would be a start.

The Pro-ban fans are generally harking back to a golden time where racing was 'attack, attack, attack' in the 70s and 80s and they think that those days will return again.

In reality, like most nostalgia, it didn't really happen like that. You remember the great moments and forget the bad.

In reality many factors in the last 20 years have effected cycling: Globalisation, TV coverage, team dynamics, EPO etc. The impact of race radios is really quite small.

Let's go with the option (supported by Vaughters) of having all radio feeds available to TV.

As TSF has pointed out, there are already more than enough race radio threads here. Please add your comments to one of those ongoing conversations instead.
