by flipping your username,

i came up with this interesting fact

Marvin Milkes ^ (August 10, 1923—January 31, 1982) was an American front office executive in three professional sports: Major League Baseball, soccer, and hockey. He is perhaps best known as the first general manager in the history of baseball's Seattle Pilots and — when that franchise was transferred after its only season in the Pacific Northwest — Milwaukee Brewers.

... Still doesn´t get that TGBM is the only saviour

^ is a rather lucky chap who swapped dreary Northern England for the cobbled joys of the Flemish heartlands and now gets to watch the best races from pretty much his own front garden.

Turns out to have been one of 1995's most promising young riders in his home country. And may yet be again, albeit less young this time. ;)

[Northern England isn't so bad if you didn't have to grow up there. I don't have a front garden, by the way ;)]

Panasonic-Sportlife was my favourite team at that time, mainly because I bought a Biemme winter jacket in their 'Romanian' team-colours and started to follow them closely. My brother supported Motorola because they were the heirs of 7-Eleven, which was his first jersey, and also Z-Tommasso with Lemond onboard - his winter jacket. Neither of us knew much about 1990 and earlier - Fondriest beating the Criq and Bauer tag team or Lemond's hunting accident fightback prefiguring the Armstrong cancer fightback. It was all because of the jerseys and the exotic foreign companies listed thereon.

This is how 10-12 year olds think. The world starts with them and kind of stretches out from there. :)

I also had an undefinable kid-crush on Fondriest. I liked his gawky grimace - an astrological alignment of teeth, nose and cheekbones framed by Rudy Projects. :)

I was heartbroken when the P-S team split up at the end of 1992 and he went to Lampre (where he rode much better). I tried hard to support Novémail-Histor - even mailed them for the rider postcards - but they were just not that good, even with guys like Nelissen and Mottet, plus their jersey was uncool and so was Eddy Bouwmans' haircut. Ludwig, Ekimov and Van Lancker had moved on, Dhaenens was out with his ticker. It was a small bereavement thing, like losing a pet.

^Seems to have loved cycling for a very long time through the good and bad times.
