Did anyone else go for a Xmas ride?

I've been solo for the past few years on Christmas, so I've got a nice tradition of taking to the road. In my area, I can't help but notice that I seem to be the only one cycling on Christmas day. Did anyone else go for a ride?

I left a bit late and it's just as well that darkness came after a few hours. The ice crystals in my water bottle were the sign that I should probably get back home anyway—not to mention that there seems to be a massive winter storm working its way up the east coast of the U.S. so this may be my last ride for the year.

Took this shot along the way...

Christmas Day is one of only three days of the year I won't ride (I'm Catholic, so I try to keep the three days we really care about as quiet as possible), but I'll ride the heck out of Christmas Eve and Boxing Day. I find Boxing Day is even better to ride because most people don't have to go anywhere, and are content to sit home and drink.

Plus, the Boxing Day Cricket match starts, and most people spend the day watching it. Which is good for me - less people on the road.

No Christmas Day ride for me but the roads were awesomely quiet this morning (Boxing Day) making for a great ride before watching the Sydney Hobart yacht race start (not the cricket - too depressing).

A short 25k loop near my house in NZ. No cars on the road. Absolute stunner of a morning.

4 hour ride yesterday in SoCal. Great weather but muddy after all the rain. No traffic, I always ride on X-mas day.

Man, I wish I could have gone for a ride on Christmas day, but it was 27 degrees here where we live in the middle of the U.S. That, plus it was windy, we had family to visit 70 miles away, and I hate riding in freakin cold weather. I'm counting the days until spring. :D Call me a wuss for not liking cold weather but I can't wait for the 100 degree days.

25 miles (40km) on Christmas afternoon. 77°F (25°C), sunny, slight breeze, almost no traffic at all! Beautiful day for a ride!
