do you hang your bib tights ?

I'm due for another pair of bib tights, but I've noticed that after many months, the material has stretched a bit. < sigh > After riding indoors, they are soaked with sweat and I normally hang them.

How do i know this ? I can tell from tan line on my legs. They stretched from hanging them all the time on the knob door handle.

So what do you guys / gals do to prevent bib tights from stretching ?

I'm thinking wrapping them in a towel to dry them off before washing ?

Your thoughts ?

So you are not married? If my wife do not throw them out of window, I usually keep them on floor.
Dude just relax they are perfectly ok on knob door handle.

How are you washing them? Do you have a high efficiency washer or one with an agitator in the center? Reason I ask, it may not be the way they are drying, but how they're being washed. If you have an agitator, the bibs can wrap around that and stretch. When I first started riding, I ruined a perfectly good pair of cheap bibs that way; the bib slowly stretched to the point they didn't fit. Now I mostly hand wash and hang dry my kits. If I machine wash after an especially long or dirty MTB ride, I use a lingerie bag and hang dry or lay them out on a towel. No problems, and I have team kits from years ago, teams I don't even ride with anymore, still fit like new.

gentle cold wash and either on hanger or drying rack

Gentle cold wash for me and into the dryer on air only. Never had a problem. Not even sure I could wear out an Assos bib.

+1 for the "wash in a bag " trick ! Theres a good reason why the ladies use these bags ... no reason why we cant either ... works a treat and no stretching round the agitator !!!

you could actually be getting fitter/thinner

Funny that is the first thing I thought as my 3/4's are a little loose from dropping 3kg

What I do
Wash on low (40degC - you need a little heat to break up the oils, IMO)
Dry flat on a rack ( I live in a town house)
Then no issues hanging from the brace, I have just started wearing the summer gear again, and they are all still good after not being worn for 4 months

Technique has evolved

I used to pay close attention to water temp, soap, spin cycle etc.. The last couple of years I wash 'em by hand and foot. My shower is over a bathtub so when they need a wash I just throw them into the drain end of the tub, shower as usual, bar soap and shampoo and bibs collect. I walk on them. When I'm done washing me, a bit more shampoo on the bibs, couple of rinses, wring them out. Then I sorta wrap them in an extra towel which I stand on while drying off. Finally, just drape them over a clothes drying frame.... sounds more complicated than it is. They've been holding up fine. The only stretching I've noticed is around my middle. I'm working on it. And BTW, bibs tend to not be a good choice for the gals, for obvious reasons.

Why not throw all your kits and socks in the washer together when you've cycled through them? I go through 6 sets of shorts and jerseys a week, and with socks and gloves it's a full load, cold water, regular cycle, my @ss starts wearing thru in a couple of years, buy new gear, repeat this macro cycle..then Death.

Turn them right side out (to protect the tacky strips inside the legs) and wash on gentle cold cycle. Hang over a rack or chair to dry. They last for years.
