"With respect to Mr Bruyneel, numerous riders will testify that Mr Bruyneel gave to them and/or encouraged them to use doping products and/or prohibited methods, including EPO, blood transfusions, testosterone, hGH, and cortisone during
the period from 1999 through 2007.

Riders and other witnesses will also testify that Bruyneel worked actively to conceal rule violations by himself and others through the period from 1999 through the present"

This appears as a very serious list of allegations.

Is this new territory - ie an Anti-Doping authority going after a DS/manager and team doctors?

Hog has stepped down from TDF duties.

Did the team executive management issue the directive to step down and let him spin the announcement?

If he did go to the TDF, would some French tifosi hurl rotten tomatoes at him?

Behind the scenes, is there a possibility he will still be pulling the strings at the TDF?

Will major sponsors insist he be released or will they turn a blind eye?

Would depend entirely on the verdict - but I'd suggest if found guilty as he likely should be, he'd be persona non grata everywhere.

He wouldn't be able to work in an official capacity with a UCI-registered team if he was found guilty and banned, even if not for life, since he's accused of anti-doping violations occuring as recently as present-day. According to UCI:

"1.1.006 1. Federations shall issue licences according to such criteria as they may determine.

They shall be responsible for monitoring compliance with these criteria. Before the licence is issued, the licence holder and the national federation must ensure inter alia that the licence holder is adequately insured against accidents and civil responsibility in every country where he practices competitive cycle sport or training throughout the year for which the
licence is issued.

2. No licence to participate in the sport as Staff under clause 1.1.010 (general manager, team manager, coach, doctor, paramedical assistant, mechanic, driver, riders’ agent or other function as specified on the licence) shall be granted to a person who has been found by an appropriate body to have violated as an athlete the UCI’s Anti-Doping Rules or the anti-doping rules of any other organisation.
However a licence may be granted if all three of the following conditions are fulfilled:
(1) the person concerned committed a violation only once,
(2) the said violation was not sanctioned with an ineligibility for two years or more, and
(3) five years have elapsed between the moment of the violation and the first day of the year for which the licence is granted.
Furthermore, no licence to participate in the sport as a staff member under clause 1.1.010 shall be granted to a person who has been found by a court of law or other competent body to have been guilty of facts which can reasonably be considered to be equivalent to a violation of the UCI’s Anti Doping Rules and who was a medical doctor at the time of such facts.

This clause applies in case of violations committed as from 1st July 2011. "
