Does price affect appearance?

I've kind of wondered about this when looking at the lower end priced bikes and helmets. I've seen that alot of the intro level road bikes tend to have some real ugly paint schemes on them. Also the helmets that go for about $30 are just nasty looking. So that raised the question of the price of an item affect how the product will end up looking?

Not always true though - some manufacturers use last years models, change the colours, reduce the price and sell them. I've seen Giro doing this throughout their range of helmets, and I wouldn't be surprised if bike makers also do it with frames...

Catlike Whisper is the nicest helmet and costs a fair buck.

And the most expensive bikes obviously look cooler (mostly). Integrated seatposts are probably the most aesthetically pleasing part of a bike.

Say what? ISP are just stupid. They make shipping a bike a real pain. They offer no real advantage. And they are ugly to boot.

There is definitely a lot of thought put into the looks of cycling products, as in making sure that the less expensive products look worse than the more expensive ones.

At the low-end you are describing, it's really what the manufacturer is capable of doing in a very short period of time at for them, an extremely low price.

Many times, the brand doesn't even provide the graphics. The OEM has a mask or four and/or maybe the brand can choose from a limited range of colors. There's a little hole where the brand logo goes, but that about sums up "R&D" at most bike brands very far up the product price range.
