Another dull WorldTour race.

The worst crime is gifting this status to an European race (we have enough of that) that was far more interesting when it was actually three days of racing.

I always liked the Zottegem stage.

Ah, yes. The one-day-race 'Driedaagse Brugge - De Panne', which is the beginning of the week-and-a-half long 'Flemish Week'.
Cycling is weird...

I don't think we'll see any major changes to the parcours anytime soon. At this date, two days before E3, there's just no room for anything but a sprinter's race.

It was a different story a week later, but with Flanders Classics pushing them out, the WT status compensation was the best they could hope for to keep the race running at all.

Last year they tried to add some kind of sprint challenge the day before (same as we had in Canada a couple of years ago, I think), but the teams didn't show any interest in that

This could be a good race if they gave it a chance of being significantly wind-affected but with the current route that heads towards the coast in the second half and then finishes with laps of a long circuit they've pretty much negated the effects of any wind

Gaviria was also in a break and almost no team in the finale
