Fabian Cancellara is unbelievable strong so why doesn't he attack with Andy Schleck on his wheel on a flat stage?

Why don't they enter one Schleck in the race, but have both in the route dressed the same, and frequently swap which one is in when the commissaires aren't looking by breaking onto the course like Riccò in that Gran Fondo, so that they're always fresher than their opponents?

This was actually used in a marathon once.

If Cancellara could keep the whole peloton at bay for dozens of km and get a good time gap at the finish, Andy definitely wouldn't be able to follow him.

A bit off topic, but also in a marathon once a guy stopped after 5 miles or so and then got on a bus and jumped off at 23 miles or so and won!!

Just he was found out and got DSQ

Cancellara should try this in a stage race with no mtfs... maybe Romandie or something... ride away from the peloton and then hold that time gap to win. :)

I'll give you the benefit of the doubt, though I doubt I should.

For an attack to be successful you need to create a gap and hold it due to strength or luck (being allowed)

No GC contender would allow Schleck to get in a break. So that brings us to Cancellara being strong enough to tow him away. As strong as Cancellara is he can't beat a concerted chase by even a single team. Let alone 4 or 5 of them.

Done case closed.
Evans has proven on 2 occaisons what happens to GC riders who get in breaks.
In 2009, Cancellara and Burghardt ask WTF are you doing and tell all the other break away riders to stop working until you leave the break.
Then 2005 the other GC contenders teams work until their place on GC is secure and then let the next team take over. i remember watching as Cadel rode into about virtual 3rd on the road, and then watched team by team knock him back to 7th.

RIP Amy Gillet

He could maybe try an tow one of the Shleck's if there was a stage with cobblestones and they thought they could ride away from the little Spanish climbing dudes. They actually did try something like that once, but the Shleck fell off and Fabian had to spend the next couple of days sooking about it. Had the same problem in the rain:)

You should audition for DS at Radioshack, Andersen's job will be opening up soon! Plus I'm sure Bruyneel would take you to the Tour ;)

That's ok for the flat stages, but is Horner willing to carry Andy on the mountain stages? If not, then I don't see how he wins.
