It'll be interesting. That report's Norwegian so it may be bias. KAA is a solid pro who you can completely trust, but with Flecha on the team, they don't really need a 'road captain'. Hayman and Stannard are magnificent work horses. Are either in shape? Froome had flashes of really good form in Switzerland. Henderson or Sutton could come in to help Swift.

My pick would be Froome.

Well, it was KAA himself that told them that he was first reserve so it's not like they're completely making it up. Though the whole first second reserve etc is probably just for show anyway since the decision probably depends on who they have to replace.

As for shape, KAA said that he has never gotten out of Tour de Suisse feeling better than he did this year so he should be in pretty good shape. We'll see how he rides during Nationals.

Fair enough, you speak the lingo. Internet translations of the Norwegian report were not very illuminating, to say the least. He wouldn't have been my choice, but as I said, he's a good solid pro who knows his stuff.

Maybe Sky can draft in Mick Rogers?..............................Oh wait.
(Some folks don't just buy turkeys at Christmas)

Mick Rogers is someone else who has not had much luck. Illness has obviously upset a lot of his career plans as well. As far as I know he is recovering from another bout of glandular fever. Possibly not far off retirement ?

I would have loved to see EBH ride the tdf in the norwegian champions jersey. Riding with the best on the mountains and on the the next day sprinting with the best. He is really an amazing rider. The peloton needs more riders like him. too bad he go the sickness:(:(

I would love to see Stan given a chance. Not sure the nominated reserve has to take the place. A few years ago didn't a rider injure himself prior to the prologue and his replacement was the only rider in the team that lived close enough to the start to get there in time. I believe that rider, who was never selected initially and had done no preparation, actually finished the Tour

Well, it can't be just anyone. It has to be one of the riders that were preregistered with the organizers. Both KAA and Stannard were certainly part of that list but we don't know if Froome and some others were.

How do you know Stannard was down to replace EBH?

You said Henderson was definitely going to be selected so maybe it's your information which is wrong.

I didnt say hendo was definate, i said the information we'd been given. ;)

Stannard.. I was at the criterium last night

Fair enough. I saw you mention that Swift was initially a reserve so it seems like Hendo paid for his poor form at TdS and Sky made a late decision to drop him. I did read that there was possibly a problem with Hendo's health at TdS which would explain his performance there.

Good news. But I wonder what easy spinning on the rollers as opposed to racing yesterday and full-on training will do to his early race form. Also wonder when Sky will weigh in here.

They say he has responded well to treatment and he will be back on his bike. He will leave for the meetup with the team and it will ultimately be up to the Team Sky team doctors if he is finally cleared or not and it will depend on how he feels when he gets back on his bike.

As for his form, it doesn't need to mean anything. He has already done all the hard training to prepare for the Tour so getting a couple days off like this can actually be more positive than negative for his form.

Yup, the tour is 3 weeks long, missing 2 or 3 days training now will make next to no difference after the first few days.

Don´t disagree with any of this. Was thinking more along the lines of Stage 1, which suited him well. This could very well derail that opportunity.

It would have been awesome to see him in yellow...

Ya, stage one will be a crapshoot, but that is true for everyone I think.
