Favourites:

*****: Gilbert. With the form he has shown this year he should be able to take time on everyone at one point and he's not that bad in TTs either.

****: EBH. He will put time into Gilbert (and most others too) in the TTs, but his quest for overall glory most likely relies on him getting some bonus seconds in the sprints in order to hold off the crazy Belgian. In short hills like this very few can drop him but if he gets overconfident and tries to follow a Gilbert-attack he could crack big time.

***: Lars Boom, David Millar. Guys who can hang on in the hills and also put some time on their competition in the TTs. However, they will rely on either dropping EBH or that EBH gets little to no bonus seconds in the sprints because they can't put much, if any, time on him in the TTs.

**: Liuwe Westra, G Van Avarmaet, T Phinney (should get dropped at some point though), Thomas De Gendt, A Rasmussen (had to include someone from HTC as they have won this two times in a row, but they really don't seem to have any genuine overall contenders)

*: Stijn Devolder, he has to be mentioned but I'm 99,9% sure that he will be caught out by every single split in the peloton, before he will try to pull things back together by himself. If he should be able to get back he will launch a weak attack and then get shot out the back.

Can't see Gilbert winning this, as it looks like there is only one stage where he could really put any time into the opposition (stage 3). The final stage is hilly, but the hard climbs are a long way from the finish. There a two (admittedly relatively short time trials), where he is likely to lose time (good for Geraint though :)). I would say EBH (but then I'm biased). Look out for Tjallingi, Nuyens, GvA, Scheirlinckx. With Leukemans, De Gendt, Van Leijen and Devolder (admittedly a question mark) Vacansoleil look very strong. Millar has podiumed here, but he's probably raced too much this year.

Phille won't lose too much time in the prologue, maybe even no time at all.
He might lose half a minute or more in the 2nd TT to EBH, but Phille for the overall imo.

Go De Gendt! He's done very well this season!

But Eddy Boss is probably gonna win this thing.

I'm a little confused here http://www.cyclingnews.com/features/eneco-tour-start-list-1

Confirmed, is that confirmed teams or confirmed riders on said teams? Of course this is from the 5th, you'd hope they have them all confirmed by now. Also do they really have ten riders on each team?

8 starters and 2 reserves. The final start list should be out this evening so this one is provisional. Expect some slight changes.

Edit: here it is

Glad to see this thread got started. With some big names in the start list, I'm looking forward to this one too.

Besides some of the favorites already mentioned, I think maybe GVA and The Cossack could do something, and go out on a limb a bit and say maybe Robbie McEwen.

I'd love to see The Cossack win a stage or two, he was a bit of a non-entity at the Tour de France.
