Teams & Riders Everybody needs a little bit of Roglstomp in their lives

It‘s 1-1 in Grand Tours they both finished. Close race.

Only one rider has finished between them in a Grand Tour.

People can knock on Roglic’s style and riding preferences but the old man finds a way to win consistently. Overcame his crash and poor team support half the time to not only win authoritatively but with the most attacking he might have ever done. Showed Bora they were correct to believe in him and gave the middle finger to Visma in the process. TDS and fifth Vuelt would be nice next year.

Masterful, smart race from Primoz. He only had one or two slight bobbles; of course, giving BOC that much time wasn't in the cards but in the end it gave him a goal to work for each stage rather than trying to control the whole field.

Bora were pretty good -- but not great. It's hard to say if it was illness or lack of form, but I expected much more from Martinez. Vlasov and Lipowitz were more or less excellent, though.

But...I think UAE backing a healthy Almeida would have given him a stiff challenge. I had picked Almeida to win and even until he dropped out I still thought this would be his breakthrough GT. Guess we'll have to wait longer for that.

I'm afraid Roglic will go down as the most talented rider in recent decades not to win the Tour, though. I wonder what the plan is next year? Hopefully not crash out of the Tour and win the Vuelta; he's done that what, twice already? :) Would love him to tackle LBL, too.

Roglic doesn't try to win every stage that he can. He could have, for example, won stage 20 if he wanted. I admire him for this. His goal was to win the GC.
I was also going to bet that, had he wanted, he could've won stage 20.

Briefly I had the theory that he didn't want to push Denz over the time limit, but I guess he was just content covering his GC tag-alongers.

So he was and is sick. Incredible performance with bad stomach. He went to the bathroom 20 times before todays TT and finished 2nd. Let that sink in.
A mortal among monsters? Maybe he's also a bit of a monster himself.
Woow and that was one of his best TT I think.
Chapeau king Primož!

Now some family time and then I hope we'll see him in WC, both TT and RR.

A deserved win, considering how he rode the vuelta and the bad luck (again) that he had at the tour.

As far as his GT collections go, the ones that obviously stand out are the 2019 Giro especially the 2020 Tour. You could even add last year’s Vuelta. Visma should be taking some of the blame for all three of those GT’s. Imagine had he bagged those 3. He’d be on 5 Vuelta’s, 2 Giro’s, and 1 Tour. Plus all the tours he’s had to either abandon or he rode with injuries. It wouldn’t be too far fetched to have had him on a list of possible GOAT status.

2020 Tour?

He has only himself to blame.

He got his ass beaten, fair and square.

I wonder if the team tried cutting off the sickness with antibiotics, Tylenol, ibuprofen, and antidiarrhea medications for stage 20. While bad luck that he and the team got sick, he finally had some good luck roll his way.

And when you are taking your fourth....that's the goal as it should be. Save every little bit.
He will think of that Tour he lost to Pogacar forever. I'm sure he can tally up every wasted watt and calorie that made the difference in that race and will never forgive himself.
