Fantasy Cycling Season

Ive helped to create a Fantasy Cycling Season for 2010 over at a Pro Cycling Manager website PCMdaily, and thought I would post a link to it here to see if anyone is interested in joining it?

The basic premise is you pick a team of 16-30 riders through the season using a budget of 10,000,000 , with points to be scored for any results in .1 categorised races or above - with a monthly 'transfer window' where you can bring up to 4 riders in to your team, and get rid of as many as you like (so long as the team size is at least 16).

Im hoping that it will be a fun game to do throughout the season - and wont be a lot of work for players once their original lineup is picked - and of course I would like to see as many people as possible taking part, to make it all the more interesting.

So if you think you might like to join, the link is: http://www.pcmdaily.com/news.php?readmore=485

Interestingly, a doping penalty gives only up to 300 penalty points, which is less than the up to 400 points for winning a pro tour classic. So just a few wins will make up for a doping offense...

Its designed to be there as more of a minor inconvenience - rather than something that could ruin a fantasy teams chances too much

In retrospect, if I was going just for the riders I liked I might have chosen differently, and if I was just wanting to win I'd have bought Cav and Greipel.

I'm banking hard on the cheaper young guys. In retrospect I've probably selected way too few sprinters (but they all seemed so overpriced) and way too many classics guys. With that said I think I'm not too exposed to possible doping sanctions.

In case anyone else is interested, today is the last day in which you can enter a team that will score in all races, with it being the Australian TT Championships tomorrow.

There is no deadline for entry though, so if you have no wish to pick any Australians or New Zealanders, you just need to make sure you enter by the 17th January ahead of San Luis and TDU.

It would be smart to transfer riders in for the months races, but I just didn't think about that when making my initial team. Maybe next month. I think you would want Greipel for the TDU, and he's understandably expensive.

Evans is racing it; however I am unsure about his form...

I also grabbed Roche for it...if he does it. He had some ok results last year and I like his style.

Btw - theres no limit on how many riders you can get rid of each month. It can be more than 4 - you just need to always have at least 16 riders.

With the TDU, it is usually a sprinters race, so Evans would be an expensive risk given that all he may do is ride around like Armstrong, making no real impact.
With Allan Davis, i guess its a choice over him and Greipel - its quite pricey to take both, and personally I reckon Greipel is the more consistent of the 2.

Anyone else made their transfers for February? I've posted mine on PCMDaily now. I ended up with only sixteen riders again, because I wanted to buy a couple of bigger names.
