Favourite Races

Was just wondering what races people looked forward to most throughout the year. Personally mine are:

***** P-R, World Champs
**** RVV, le Tour
***M-SR, Paris -Nice, Dauphine, L-B-L
**Giro, Vuelta, tour de Suisse
*Het Volk, Tour of Britain :D

Guess they are obvious choices but they are helped by proper TV coverage over here.

I'm not going to bother naming one of the big events, everyone looks forward to those, so I'll name a small event instead:

Ronde van België. Looking forward for a battle between Stijn Devolder, Bjorn Leukemans, Greg van Avermaet, Philippe Gilbert and why not Tom Boonen.

-Tour of California (I live in Los Angeles, so it's natural for me to cheer on my home race.)

I'm from Quebec city, so, obviously, I can't wait for the two canadian races.

Other than that, the Giro and Lombardy are my two other favorite races.

Besides the obvious ones, I am always looking forward to Flèche Wallonne. I know that 199 km are usually not worth watching but the last 2 never disappoint.

I'm totally the TdF centrified and following since 2004 always started watching the races from Fleche or LBL until the last year. But anyway things are percieved in terms of the Tour, the race with the highest basic level and inexpressible grade of contention. For me, any races containing climbs are better than Paris-Roubaix for instance. Hence 1 TdF 2 Giro. I really don't know what to put on the 3rd place

The question is which race we are "looking forward to" the most, so I'm going to have to add Omloop to my five star races...

***** Worlds, PR, RVV, Omloop HNB
**** LBL
*** FW, M-SR, TdF, AGR, Belgian Nationals
** Giro, GdL, E3
* Vuelta

Probably forgot some.

I think it depends from year to year. Some years the build up to the classics is more intense than others.

Those five star races are pretty consistently anticipated by me though.

***** TdF, Worlds, Olympics
****Vuelta, Monuments
***PN,TA,Pais Vasco, AGR, Fleche, GW, etc,
**Catalunya, Romandie,Eneco Omloop, etc
* Criterium Int, KBK, Castillia, Murcia, etc
0 TDU and every ****ing race that just pays UCI and hosts flat stages and a farce tt.

I must be forgetting something.....

EDIT

1. Paris-Roubaix, Ronde van Vlaanderen, Liege Bastogne Liege and Amstel Gold Race;

2. The Worlds, Milano-Sanremo, Lombardia, Het Volk, Dwars door Vlaanderen, E3, San Sebastian, Strade Bianche, Giro del Piemonte, Milano-Torino, a cobbled stage of the Tour, a gravel stage of the Giro;

3. Giro (no more than 8 stages, the rest is usually bull****), the Tour (no more than 4 stages, the rest is certainly bull****),non-sprinters stages of Paris-Nice, Tirreno, Pais Vasco, Tour of Qatar, ____empty space____(RIP Volta Catalunya), major stages of stage races in the Benelux, Kuurne-Bruxelles-Kuurne, Gent-Wevelgem, GP de Wallonie, Giro dell'Emilia, Tre Valli Varesine, GP Miguel Indurain, Paris-Tours, (everything i forgot)

4. Every one day race that doesn't end in a bunch sprint at least once in 3 years, major bunch sprints and TTs.

I think I like the three GTs most, due to there being 20(ish) times the drama of any one-day-race, with Giro slightly ahead of the other two. I totally enjoy the intensity of the Classics, but I think they are a bit overrated because of the romanticism about it and everything.

1) Paris-Roubaix
2) WC RR, RVV, MSR
3) GdL, LBL, Amstel
4) The rest of the cobbled (semi)-classics and other one day races such as Plouay, the Canadian races, Paris Tours, Strade Bianche etc... Also interesting stages in GT's, by interesting I do not only mean mountain stages but all stages that provide some sort of entertainment. Ie not totally flat stages.

1. Giro/TDF
2. Paris-Roubaix/RvV
3. Vuelta/Amstel/LBL/GdL

I'll pretty much enjoy any cycling but I don't really get the strong support for the Worlds or Olympics.
