Could someone please explain, if you come in 70th or more, and 5 min down, two days running how can you be only seconds of the leader on GC !!!

because the leader also came in five minutes down, and the guy who finished five minutes ahead started the day 15 minutes behind..

its all based on total accumulated time lost or gained through all stages thats how it works in stage races.
