Beautiful route.

Part of the Montirolo to be baptized as the Recta Contador
Read about in Italiano:

So are they gonna use it in the Giro or "depending on road repairs" as the translation doesn't seem very clear?

Heartbreaking.

Sara Piffer, an Italian racer with Continental team Mendelspeck, has died during a training ride on Friday morning in the northern Trentino region of her country when she was reportedly hit by the driver of a vehicle. She was 19.

Piffer was training on a minor road between the localities of Mezzocorona and Mezzolombardo when the incident happened. Attempts were made to save her life on the spot and she was subsequently evacuated by a hospital helicopter, but it was to no avail.

Her brother, an amateur racer who was out training with her was also caught up in the crash but only suffered minor injuries, according to reports in the Italian press.

Since there isn't much going on in the track cycling forum I will post this here.

Several track cyclist of the german male team (Benjamin Boos, Tobias Buck-Gramcko, Bruno Kessler, Moritz Augenstein, Louis Gentzik and Max-David Briesewere) were injured after a car hit them. No life threatening injuries but many fractures.

The car driver, 89 years old, didn't saw them and crashed right into them.

Don't know who has been following but they are currently kicking the absolute sh*t out of each other in Goma on the eastern Congolese/Rwandan border with real danger of it spilling over into a wider regional conflict.

Posting because it's the Tour of Rwanda next month and the World Championships this year, the UCI haven't commented yet but this will surely put the races into serious doubt. Rwanda is not a big country, Kigali about 100km away as the crow flies.

TL'DR Rwandan backed rebels captured DRC city, diplomatic relations severed.

That M23 thing is part of a larger conflict which has been going on for decades.
Not that it makes it any better for the poor people involved, but I doubt that it's going to have any consequences for the planned cycling events in Rwanda.
