I was looking at the route for the giro and see in the stage profiles that the GPMs are amrked but they don't tell you if the clims are Cat 1, Cat 2, HC etc... I'm not even sure what the appropriate categories are for the Giro... Does anyone know of a site where the climbs are categorized for the Giro? I don't recall if Tirren's climbs were categorized before the race... If someone knows where to fins this info, will you share it, please? Thanks!

Here's the link to Stage 6, for example:

http://www.gazzetta.it/Speciali/Giroditalia/2012/it/tappa.shtml?t=06&lang=en

Note: By the way, how do I insert an image? I'm trying to click on the 'Insert Image' icon, but it doesn't respond! Thanks!

the giro doesn't use the same system as the tour. there are only mountains btw cat 4 and cat 1.

i think the cat of the climb is there but the size of the image+color of the number make it unreadable

Those profiles are still provisionals... Soon they'll make the final version, with all the changes they made to a few stages and the category of the climbs. Anyway, if you look at the "cronotabella" (=timetable), there already are the categories in the end.

So the categories are in the "cronotabella" already? Thanks, I'll take a look! :)

Just yesterday I bought the official programme of the Giro... I would advise everyone to buy it... All stage profiles are on it.

So what does the program say about Stage 6?...

You can see the number of the category climbs very clearly. Also there is a map next to the profiles of each stage where they give you the length and the gradients of each climb....

Again, I would advise not just yourself but everyone here to buy it.

... I have a feeling the ones on the programs are the real ones. Like Eshnar just said the links you showed are provisional only.

Wow! Thanks for all the info... I don't know where to get the program in the States, but thanks! :)

It says the Cingoli is a 3rd category climb.
Passo Della Cappella is a 2nd category climb.
Montelupone is a 3rd category climb.
Montegranaro is a 3rd category also.

You can see the number of the category climbs very clearly. Also there is a map next to the profiles of each stage where they give you the length and the gradients of each climb.

For example,

Cingoli
Length: 6.4km
Average gradient: 6.5%
Max gradient:13%

Passo Della Cappella
Length: 4.5km
Average gradient: 7.7%
Max gradient: 16%

Montelupone
Length: 4.6km
Average gradient: 4.4%
Max gradient: 15%

Montegranaro
Length: 1.2 km
Average gradient: 13.8%
Max gradient: 18%

Again, I would advise not just yourself but everyone here to buy it.

Also the route that Parrulo showed is 207km and the link you also showed says it is a 207 km stage. Yet in the programme it says it is a 211 km stage and the profile is slightly different. I have a feeling the ones on the programs are the real ones. Like Eshnar just said the links you showed are provisional only.
Yes, stage 6 is the one that suffered the most changes :(
Where did you buy the programme?

What happened? Did they take out the first half of the hard climb?
Yes I already pointed that out in the Giro thread... did you miss it?
They changed the first wall for safety reason apparently (the entrance of the "wall" was a sharp and narrow bend and the peloton was likely to be huge there). Someone says (but this are rumours) that the sterrato was in simply awful shape.
edit: they added another climb before the finish which is quite good, but I really wanted to see that wall :(

I wanted to see it too, the climb is actually on Street View, doesn't look too bad to me. The whole road is rather narrow but it just makes positioning important.

Yeah I know that's on streetview but it's a long time it is. Maybe the condition got worse this winter.

And then there's the toughest climb of the three first stages: Smedebakken in Denmark! :)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EvHYTcJoL-o

Length: 800 m
Average gradient: 8.4%
Max gradient: 12% or so :)

(The hill is part of stage 3.)

I just visited the Giro pages to look at the categorization of the climbs for the 2013 race, but they're still all "blue"! Does anybody know where the Giro stages might be posted with their categorizations? Or where the race programs might be posted? I previously read on this thread that:

but I can't see where I can find that - the cronotabella - for the current upcoming race on the 2013 site.

Apparently there isn't anymore :D Anyway it's just a matter of days, the changes have already been made, soon they'll update the profiles of the site.
