I think that was a good move by Karpets and the time he took shows he is on top form, 2 25 is nothing to be sniffed at but i see him losing 5 on zoncolan, he looked really bad an ineffective on the steep slopes, i guess its always hard to role Karpets up hills

if he didn't he would of only lost out on the zoncolan.

Not that I think Karpets could actually win the Giro, but I think you're underestimating him a bit. He finished 13th in last years TdF, where did Sastre and Evans finish?

Karpets couldn't keep up with the favourites on the Terminillo, and of course this will get even worse, no matter how many times he beat an exhausted Sastre and an out-of-form Evans in a non-climber's Tour.

I liked the move from Karpets, but I thought both his team mates in the break should have fallen off during the final descent and given him a longer pull.

I expect Saturday's grappa to be as dull as the terminallo.

The main contenders certainly had the carpet pulled out from under them.

Not a bad last 30km with the break constantly attacking one another... If this is as boring as it gets...

Farrar will be impressed by his teammate's leadout...

Great win by a local kid...now I am reminded why I love the sport so much...good stuff.

OK maybe that was stupid move by Karpets, but how Vino, Cunego, Evans and co. think thay can pull these 10 minutes??? BY an attack 10km from the finish in a stage that was rank with ONE star out of four. NO way. IF any of these guys went along side Karpets they would made a 4 minutes gap, and if that one was one of LIquigas riders the gap would be even bigger, becasue there wouldn`t be any team to chase them.

You're spot on IMO. The GC riders need to use every possiblity to gain time. And imagine if Nibali had joined Karpets today, who would chase them? This Giro has a lot of strong GC riders with quite weak teams.

Exactly, no team train could match them, so others would probably also attack, and Porte would blow, but I hope will see that scenario today.

I have to say this Giro is rather random, you don't know what to expect next. A neo-pro taking the Pink jersey, a 56 man break getting away and putting some serious time into the races favourites, you don't give a guy like Sastre a 5 minute advantage over you. Fantastic scenery, and some rather unpredictable racing.
