Giro TT bike brakes

Looking thru CN photographs of the various TT bikes used in the Giro I note that several brands had novel brakes fitted such as this one:

I note the QR feature is similat to that used on some mountain and flat-bar bikes. They can be quite a pain to use when removing/replacing a wheel. I could see a rider losing substantial time in case of a wheel change (unless the team would switch bikes in the event of a flat).

I have those brakes on my Giant Trinity Composite. I haven't had to change a flat yet, but I imagine they wouldn't be any different from the regular brakes.

On a TT course when there's a flat, the team car right behind will give you another bike immediately. In a TT, every second matters, there's no time screwing around the wheels.

Those brakes are already used from some years now for aerodinamich reasons (compared to standard brakes) and if they are still using them means they aint that bad.
