Apparently he is currently struggling with some tendon injuries. But he has been pushing through that because of riding on his home roads.

Hopefully that does not cause further injuries in preparation of the Giro. But I would say to milano-torino and Milano-San Remo are out of the question.

Pelizzari has been impressive throughout this year to me and clearly taken a step which is nice wouldnt surprise me either if he follow up and podium the giro. He just seem stronger this year which ive said before.

Only outlier so far been strade to me vs expectations but im not sure if something happened to him or not there but also jaen which could explain his strade. Anyway good italian talent hopefully only the beginning.

I would hope that he skips Milan Torino and Sanremo , both of which he is down to ride. Tendons take time to sort out usually.
Having said that, if he rides those two races with any commitment, it would indicate that the tendon issue wasn't too bad.

GC + 2 stage wins at the Tour of the Alpes, definitely a strong podium contender for the Giro.

The last Trentino winner to also podium the Giro was Yates in 2021; the last winner to also win the Giro was Nibali in 2013.

That said, I think in some ways winning the GC here is more important than a podium at the Giro. He's been a consistent piazzato for a year or two, so it's good for him to get used to winning and how to lead high level races from the front, not just aiming for podium or top five positions .

Other than Vingegaard, who is climbing better in sight of the Giro that's going? The kid looks in really good form AND he said he's not in top shape yet. Like to see him on the Giro podium.

Is there any chance he'll go to the Tour after the Giro?

Although the most logical thing would be for him to do the Vuelta if he does a second GT , but there's a risk he'll be stronger than Roglic.

Why would Bora care if he is stronger than Roglic? Only situation in which that could become a problem is when Pellizzari is the strongest rider in the race and Roglic the second strongest rider in the race.

In any other case it is only good the team to let the road decide.

By the way, I am really happy with how Pellizzari is progressing. Also has shown some early signs that he has good durability as a week three rider. I dont think he will be able to challenge Vingegaard but for podium is definitely a favorite.

There are lies, damned lies and statistics.

One could also say that in the two most recent additions 50% of the people that podiumed the Tour of the Alps ended up in the top-5 of the Giro, while all of those riders started the Giro as sub-favorites at best.

And then the Tour of the Alps looks like an ideal preparation for the Giro. And I believe that this stage race has been ideal for Pellizzari as he will gained even more confidence and probably also full captaincy from the team.
