Considering it's Giro and considering there were two special stages in last two editions i will add one picture from each.

Way before my time, but I like these old pictures because things were obviously very different back then. (Also love the simplicity of the bikes!)

Seeing as I'm all about the scenery I'm glad they were able to capture some of it in this photo of the Mendola climb at the 1959 Giro.

Have to have some snowy mountain pictures, this is Charly Gaul climbing the Grossglockner at the Tour of Austria when he was just 17.

You will never understand how much this meant to me nor how much jumping around & yelling with delight I did (I'm a cripple, jumping around is very painful for me, & I did a lot of it).

This was the first bike race i watched from start to finish. I thought cycling was always like this...

How it ended

Wow, these are indeed iconic pictures.

Been watching since 1992. That day in the '98 Tour remains the greatest day of racing I have ever followed (in those days had to settle for the 30 minute stage highlights on SBS). I had resigned myself to Ullrich going back to back. Then Marco did the impossible. Just epic and incredible.

Not that great a picture in itself, but contador vs. andy is basically when I started watching cycling. Somehow I always rather cheered for the young david than the goliath in these duels, it was the same a few years later:
