Which diehard butthurt Skyfan said this:

"The thing Dave Brailsford is doing so well is planning for the future. He’s investing in new riders but also looking for new technology that will help his team. Most team, including us, live almost year to year. When you have a short-term project, you don’t invest for the future, you don’t invest in young rider who might not win for a few years."

Why is this thread in the clinic?

I dunno... Maybe because some funny clinic quotes will eventually end up here and the OP had thought of that scenario?

You got it in one with Tinkov

It's in here for a giggle, but also to follow on from my point in another thread that it is possible for a team to be massive dopers and innovative at the same time. I don't know what Tinkov thinks with regards to dope but he is saying that Sky are better at other teams at chasing technology and planning for the long term.

Does that make Tinkov a diehard butthurt Skybot?

No, he's talking about the effect of long-term finance on performance. Just because he doesn't use the word 'performance' doesn't mean that isn't what he is talking about. If long term planning isn't related to performance there would be no point mentioning it.

The implication of what he is saying is that because of the advantages of Skys finance model Sky will win and win and win, to the detriment of other teams and ultimately the sport when it starts to put off other sponsors.

In my opinion those with more/many ressources will explore any gain avaliable...
Legal gains for obvious reasons, and illegal/grey area gains for just as obvious reasons...

I am also of the opinion that marginal gains is just a hyped rephrasing of an "old" way of thinking called "attention to detail"...

Such attention can vary between what is legal and illegal, and what I think people object against is not always the specific marginal gains or their possible effect. But that it is sold as a new way of thinking/revolution...

It is not...

On another note, since I guessed the quote is it my turn to come up with one?

"I love him," [redacted] said. "I think he's great. He's transformed the sport in so many ways. Every person in cycling has benefitted from Lance Armstrong, perhaps not financially but in some sense. Even his strongest critics have benefitted from him. I don't think this sport will ever realise what he's brought it or how big he's made it.

"Cycling was in the dark ages before he came along, in many ways. You only have to look at the support along the roads, compared to what it was 20 years ago. The majority of that is because of Lance Armstrong. Obviously he has his enemies and people among the fans who don't like him, but they've all benefitted from him and his existence on the Tour."

Okay my turn...

Guess the quote..

And no google cheating ;)

I'll probably do nothing today. I'll go out on my bike and play with the kids. What I won't do is watch the Tour de France on the television. What's the point? I'm not interested in it. I very rarely sit down and watch cycling on television these days. It's not like it was when I was a kid, perhaps because it's what I do for a living - but I've just had enough of the sport at the moment.
-------
But the thing I have realised in the last few years is that, just because a bike rider takes drugs, that doesn't mean he's a nasty bloke. It means that a bike rider is willing to take risks. Alexander Vinokourov is a gentleman, a nice guy, and a lot of people would have been pleased if he had won the Tour de France.

The one who guesses the quote shall supply the next one... (if OP agrees ofc)?

In other words, dope now and dope often.

Correct - he was talking about the fact they have a long term plan (and presumably agreed / guaranteed budget) that allows them to run more development for younger riders. Much like a football team with an academy.

The bit I didnt agree with was when he said their budgets were virtually the same 33m v 27m. Thats a 22% difference - hardly virtually the same.

Unfortunately most of the ones I can quote will be easy for people to guess, this one is probably a bit trickier:

"remember, at one point he had a minute and a half, and just who is that rider coming up behind because it looks like ...."
