GuyIncognito is spot on. If you are a god and the rest are mortals, you can do a long range attack and the rival leaders and their supreme superdomestiques will not catch you. Otherwise they will, and they will drop you because a TTT goes much quicker than a TT.

So is Landa a god now then ??

This post is just more trolling by those who love to blame SKY for everything ....they were only bit players today and did not stop the action...they just chased Landa when there were no TCS left or at least tried to chase ....as Contador nor Porte were't going to

What? I don't blame Sky. I'm agreeing with GuyIncognito (and Purito, who said the same thing) that the train tactics we see are a function of the gap in strength between superdom and leader being much smaller than it used to be.

I missed today's stage, how far out did GodLanda attack from again?

There is a difference if its a marked rider or not.Landa attack wasnt that impressive (yea of course, super form but still), any other of the top rider could done that if he wasnt marked.

I'm not blaming at all. All I wanted to see is whether anyone had the same view as me. I think I've got my answer. It's that racing has evolved (which I except) and I'm just a person that doesn't except it.

Having a team with lots of strong riders prepared to push the pace along from earlier in a stage can be good for race. It gets rid of most of the domestiques leaving smaller groups at the bottom of majot climbs when the leaders can battle it out without fear of domestiques pulling back attacks.

Where it goes wrong is if a team chooses to sit on the front and control the pace so that all the domestiques make it and then nobody can attack or on team is so much stronger than the rest that they still have multiple riders left when all the other teams have left is their leaders.

I see Tinkoff doing a bit of the former while Astana a bit of the later and sky not doing much at all in the race so far.

I don't know where to comment on an obviously fallacious comment about Sky's team time trial in the "Nine conclusions after nine stages" article, but since there is no space for comments under articles any more and with regards to facebook and twitter I am still in the 19th century, this is probably as good as any other place. Sky's team time trial was certainly NOT their worst performance ever in a GT. That was in the 2011 Vuelta, where they came 20th, which could have cost them the race (although the Geox team of the eventual winner Cobo were even worse). Actually their 9th place in San Remo was their worst performance since ....... the last GT, yes the 2014 Vuelta, when they were 11th. See

Back on track
This is only one piece of evidence, but no Sky have not ruined stage racing (although the 2012 and 2013 'Tours would arguably have been better without the Sky train, particularly 2012, but then a lack of Bertie in the race was a big factor).
