Welcome to cycling ...it takes awhile to get full immersed but once you do you will love it forever...Helps to follow some riders
As an American you might want to follow US riders like TJ Van Garderen or Andrew Talansky

Some of the great rivlas at the moment are Contador V Froome V NibaliVQuintana ...might want to pick one of these

You can get alot of footage on Youtube

Some races to watch (imo) are
Milan San Remo 2015
Tour of Flanders 2014
Paris Roubaix 2015

Dauphine 2014
Liege Bastone Liege 2013
Giro 2014 /2012
Vuleta a Espana 2012 /2013
Tour de France 2011/2013

And of course on twitter there is a whole community

In additionto the latest editions of major classics races, I would also recommend that you watch the Tour of Flanders 2011 and 2010, Paris Roubaix 2011 and 2006. Those were very good classics. The E3 harelbeke 2011 is also a must-see race, but I'm not certain if you can find the full race. Enjoy!

First & Foremost, don't ever ever ever ever ever watch the Tour of France again. There's much better things to do in July than this.

Second, watch Paris-Roubaix 1976 via A Sunday in Hell: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zxBTVU9JDrA

Next Paris--Roubaix 2003 & 2006, Ghent-Wevelgem 2015, Omloop 2006 & 2012, Tro Bro Léon 2013, Milan-Sanremo 2003 & 2008

And of course some cyclocrosses: Koksijde 2008, Roubaix 2009, Worlds 2007, U23 Worlds 2013, Gieten 2014, and many more. Well any cyclocross is worth watching actually.

Ya I'd agree...to some degree I guess it depends on who you like.

If you are going to watch gt's the best to watch would be
2007, 2009, 2010 Tour's
2008, 2011 Giro's
2008, 2012, 2014 Vuelta's
Those are always a joy. Oh and you'll want to keep an eye on the Giro coming up in May...
Something about this list... :p

I love it! Way to steer the new fan in the right direction!

I watched the TDF 3 years in a row,and then it bit me square in the read end! :p

I am getting more into cycling with each race, and hope to learn more each time.

Recently I found out that Dish network has a channel that showed some races, but not all
that I would like to see........any online real time or taped I can watch.........

I am in the United States, Alabama.

Hi, Like yourself I started watching cycling by watching the TDF, with my first Tours being through the infamous Armstrong years. After a couple of years I began to watch the other GT's with the 2002 Giro being my first, I remember being amazed by 'Super Mario' Cipollini and his 6 stage wins. For over 10 years ive now watched pretty much any race that is on tv. Im lucky that between Eurosport, Sky sports and ITV there are very few races that I miss.

As has already been mentioned there are some great races and stages to watch that have already been posted, enjoy!

Both Ronde and Roubaix were better in '14 than '13. '13 was the worst Ronde I have ever seen.
Are you on drugs? Pr 2013 was not just the best pr of this decade, but the best monument full stop.
And it's got nothing to do with the fact that I wanted canc to win, I can aknowledge 2010 pr and especially 2013 ronde were dull fests.

But saying 2013 roubaix was worse than the 2014 edition which ended in a late escape from a second tier rider, when 2013 had over 35k of full full on action, shocking crashes, totally unclear who would win until the very end and the eventual winner had to from 30 out bridge access two groups to even get into contention, come on.

Exactly, I dont know if people's memory have beed erased or what but I dont fvcking understand how they can think '14 was better than 13' in terms of PR RVV.
Agree with you, esp PR was a pretty good race.

Netserk just didn't like the winner. That said, RVV 2013 was a dull race until the last 20km's, but so was 2012. 2012 Paris Roubaix was absolutely terrible...

What a load of ***. Typical for you to project all kind of nonsense bias into my posts.

For the record I think 2006 was the best Roubaix I have seen. 2011 the best Ronde I have seen.

Way to go to completely ignore 60k of excitement before Terpstra's winning move.

It's because of stupid comments like this one that I would suggest to you, (USAcyclingfan) to start over with a new handle. One that doesn't announce the fact that; You come from the same country as Lance Armstrong, you're a typical overbearing American, or you like cycling races that are only raced in July. I'm telling you this because I'm an American and I've been around these forums for many years and know how some people view us. I try to keep my nationality out of my comments as much as possible to avoid the various snide remarks that I've seen aimed at Americans. Rooting for American riders is also very frustrating, so I would take a non nationalistic approach to finding riders to follow.

http://www.steephill.tv/ This is a great site to watch semi-good quality live streaming races. They're on mid-morning out there on the east coast.

Steephill is good.

As for the other stuff, You use what handle you want. Let the morons post it only shows their ignorance and what tiny minds they have. You post away.
Welcome.

Then you might want to watch the Amgen Tour of California (I believe it will be shown on NBCSports TV). Tour of Utah (as I recall it is streamed on the internet), and US Pro Tour (shown on TV but I do not recall the channel).

Also coming up are the Pan American Cycling Championships (May) and the Pan American Games (July) - no info on broadcasts yet. These pan0am events include both road and velodrome cycling.
