"But this year, because we had our heads up our arses over the Tour de France, it was like: 'Well, you can't go and do domestic races now. Tour riders don't do that. Lance would never go and do a 10-mile time trial.' We were trying to be too smart about it, too pompous in many ways."
I think I love Wiggins.

After 6,690 posts .............................................I thought this was pretty hilarious:

""We tried to be too smart about it and get one up on everyone with the weather reports. "We had this scientific camping car with all this weather*hit and I got advised to go off early to beat the rain and it turned out to be the other way around.

"Again, it was over-complicating things. I should have just gone off with the other leaders and ridden around. Once again it was bull*hit. We were trying to over-predict and over-think these things.
"

He's good at taking the mickey out of things, including himself. When he got round to talking about the scientific weather*hit camping car, I just about lost it. Ha, ha, ha!

Go Wigo!

the clue was in the article title;)

No, its Wigans. Think back to his quote regarding his move from Garmin for reference. The spelling was on purpose, you just didn't catch the reference.

^^^^ See the above reference. I was referring to Wigan...see, douchey McHairdoo referred to Garmin as "Wigan" and Sky as "Man U" when he made the move. He tagged himself with the title.

No, it will be Wigans for as long as I live. He opened his stupid pie whole last year with the comment, and he needs to live with the fact that for all of his "Garmin is Wigan" badmouthing, he finished considerably lower this year than last. If his legs ever match his mouth, I might consider referring to him in a respectful manner. Until then, he is just some douche with a bad haircut.

No, I did for a second contemplate the possibility that you were referencing the place....but then I gave you the benefit of the doubt that you wouldn't try to pluralise the word "wigan". There can only ever be one wigan. Ever. If you have been there you will know why!

No, there is a Wigans. He created himself with his mouth. It just sucks for him that they sound so similar. Again, maybe if he shut his pie hole, he wouldn't be tagged. In fact, I am pretty sure his Wiki made reference to the name at one time (for about 5 minutes)...not that I had anything to do with those kind of shenanigans...

I love Wiggins, he is quirky an excellent rider and speaks English as a native tongue. Plus he is pals with Lance . Did I mention I love the guy and he is a family man. I guess that is enough for the haters her to lay hate on the guy. Did I mention also that SKY is a first year team?

Listen far be it from me to criticise your little joke TFF....but to anyone who lives in England, or indeed has any geographical knowledge of England....well, it doesn't really work. Having to explain what makes a joke funny is like claiming something is erotic without getting a bXner :D

Incidentally, the reason he made the reference to Garmin and Wigan, is that he lives just outside of wigan in west lancs. They are in effect his local team. I admit it wasn't his finest metaphor. But they are a decent club, with a big new stadium and a nice shiny blue kit.

Having said that I have also kind of enjoyed watching Brad and The Murdoch Machine get well and truly brought to earth with a bang. His attitude really winds me up sometimes.

But seriously, 3 Olympic Golds isn't that bad.

Personally this article for me comes across as a whole pile of exscuses as to why he did not ride well.

A good example for me is Ryder Hesjadal, he had little support as far as his team went yet he road his guts out and had a great year all the while never being a team leader.

Come on Brad, suck it up! No exscuses!, new team, first year, blah blah blah, ride your bike damn it!

He only needs to explain the joke to you because you obviously were hiding somewhere last year when Brad made the comment. In most publications and CERTAINLY on this site, the spelling will always be "Wigans".

That is a bit harsh as those medals are good achievement.

I found the weather forecast van quite an interesting story. Money does not = results. He seemed to blame his team for setting the wrong program for him, wrong prologue start time, wrong recovery tatics, etc. Why doesn't he step up and say no to the giro? the guy has a brain and obviously a big mouth so why can't he say no, I want it my way?

What is it, bash the Brits week?

Did Wiggo sleep with your wife, TFF? You seem to have a really personal grudge against the guy. I love that you manage to read an article of him saying 'I had a bad season, I did this and this and this wrong and didn't perform well' and take from it that he needs to 'shut his pie hole' as you so eloquently put it.

He did have a disappointing season, for sure. I had hoped that with his focus on the TdF 100% he might be stronger there than last year, but his form was poor and the course did not suit him. I doubt he is ever going to have much success in the Grand Tours, but if he focuses on one-week races and maybe even classics he could get some great wins.

Also, I get that track accomplishments are considered insignificant by most here, but the guy is regarded as one of (if not THE) finest pursuit riders of his generation.
