She was standing on a narrow road with 198 riders traveling at 40-50km/h passing by. I think a metre or two off the road might have been the right place.
Yeah, but spectators generally dont. Of the thousands of kms ridden in each GT, fans will always stand where they get the best view, and that is as close to the road if not in it. There was no one to fault in the crash, and in fact, I have always been surprised that more incidents such as this dont happen more often.

I think the problem is the "casual" fan that the likes of the Grand Tours attract. Most (but by no means all) seasoned cycling fans do take into account the speed of the pros in a race. The spectator turned at the wrong time, but how was she to know? it could have been her first time at the race and was unaware of the speed of the riders and how close they would be ridnig to the edge of the road. A simple but costly mistake, and one of the hazards of racing on open roads. A racing incident and nobodys fault really, unless you want to blame the races Health & Safety Officer.:D

Frank Schleck was hit with a kamera today which cracked his visor.

He also swallowed a bee btw, which is like 1:1mill chance since he had 8 riders sheltering him from bugs
