How will we survive without Lance?

"I'll never have the same kind of relationship with another rider," Bruyneel said.

"I don't have the same enthusiasm than I had in 1999, at the beginning of our adventure, but I still love to manage a team, rebuilding it after working many years with the same guys. I feel responsible for the 60 people who work for the team."
I worry about Johan :(

I'll make for a big change in Johans life but I'm more worried about all those prolific posters in the Clinic. Almost their entire life, their very reason for being involves endless threads about this one bicycle racer. What will they do without him? There will be plenty of riders to tear down because they don't meet the expectation for performance, purity, and social piousness, (in fact, I doubt any rider meets this standard except maybe Greg Lemond and Eddie Merkx) but there's only one evil one who has single handedly destroyed cycling.

I'm pretty sure the bats are out for the Schleck brothers next.

I guess you mean Eddy Merckx, but he has had at least 3 positive drugs tests, so that rules him out based on your criteria. Plus, he didn't win seven Tours de France in a row, so he's clearly inferior to Lance Armstrong.

Thanks for your concern about all those prolific posters in the Clinic, but your worries are surely misplaced. This forum is less than two years old, I'm sure those posters had other things in their lives before the Clinic was created. As for Mr Armstrong himself, he's only been a pro cyclist for 18 years. Most of us can remember cycling before he popularised the sport globally and made us aware of cancer and a bike race called the Tour de France.

BTW: when did cycling get destroyed and who is this evil one who did it - are you referring to Pat McQuaid?

I would also add that it's LeMond ;)

Btw, I don't think we have to worry about Lance leaving The Clinic anytime soon :D

To answer the original question.....

We are all doomed!

Greg LeMond and Eddy Merckx. How the hell does someone posting on a cycling forum spell Eddy Merckx incorrectly? We are doomed before LA is even gone :D

He actually spelled them both wrong in the same line, so he's got consistency on his side anyway.:D

I'm truly scared. Cycling will go back to the dark old days pre-1999, when there was no Tour de France, there was never cycling on TV, the only Classic was Paris-Paris (neither Roubaix nor cobbles were invented until Hincapie brought them over from France). Cancer was merely an obscure tropical disease what only them undernourished people from Africa caught. And, worst of all, Phil and Paul would sit in silence as they had no-one to talk about. :(

Oh, wait...

It will be very difficult.
All of us will have to pay attention to cycling for 9 months every year, instead of just 3 weeks.

Excellent response!!! ROFL!

I'm sure the European fans will like it a lot. Cycling will be shown less in American media. But at least we dont have to boil in rage , every time, American media say that Lance Armstrong is the greatest cyclist ever.
