Hi, have fractured L scaphoid (mid) with minimal displacement and no seperation and fractured L clavicle (lateral) with slight displacement. Am L hand dominant.

In forearm cast for scaphoid for at least six weeks. Management of clavicle is simply to avoid pain.

Any thoughts on how you managed similar injuries, what did you do /not do to maximize recovery.

Discontinue the pain meds as soon as possible. If you have a simple brace for your collar bone keep it as tight as possible..to the point of uncomfortable. After you are a few weeks in you will get the impulse to answer the doorbell, phone or pick up the remote and shooting pain. Also give yourself 2 times as much time to use the bathroom. The instinct to reach for things is the hardest to overcome. Also if you try and ride a stationary trainer..put something on the bars so that out of habots you don't reach down to apply any wieght on your upperbody. The clavical is the most useless bone and the asiest to snap...don't worry if you get a lump where the ufse takes place.consider it an award.* don't wear belts,or pants that are hard to get up and down
