That 2010 stage, no way was he stationary for 39 seconds. He had his second wind and was 17 seconds down at the summit. The rest he lost because he's a crap descender.

Yes, Yes. Finally. I had to repost your comment for all the Andy apologists. I though it was 19 sec up and 20 down but no matter. Thank you.

The dutch mechanic on the team already told the story back in 2009.

Basically, on the Restefonde while everyone was at their limit, Sastre felt great and wanted to attack. He asked Riis, who said "ask Frank", since Frank was in yellow. So he asked Frank...

Frank said no, Sastre just followed wheels all day. Riis went up to Frank and yelled at him that if he wanted to win the Tour, "it has to hurt and it has to hurt NOW" and Frank replied that he couldn't do it. Frank's a damned nice guy, but he doesn't seem to have the mental fortitude required, sadly.
Then at the end of the Tour Andy complained that Sastre worked against Frank.

Personally, I lost all respect I had for Andy back in 2009 the moment he randomly quipped that Moncoutié "is *** in the head" apropos of absolutely nothing. If only he was a nice guy like his brother...

I'd forgotten that one and there are probably many more that simply get pushed to the dark corners of the Idiot Andy Archives. I think it's all his idea of being witty and charismatic.

Ladies, I've been told that I'm the spitting image of Alberto, so if there is a desire to act out any fantasies......just sayin'.;)

I love Alberto Fangirls, err I mean Alberto. :)

You guys have it all wrong, Andy's strength is his TT, clearly if it wasnt his strength, he would have rode the TT course at least once before the stage.

He thought he could watch a video of the course and all would be fine.

It's not about looks. Do you think we are that superficial?

About Fränk Schleck and Sastre in the tour of 08 it was my clear impression back then that the decision to ride for Sastre was made by Bjarne Riis. Now Fränk rides for Bruyneel, and suddently he recalls being "attacked by a teammate"! Oh where did I hear that expression before? Right, it was invented by Bruyneel in the tour of 09 to stir hate against Contador. Before that riders were sacrificed for their team leader all the time without making a big deal about it.

The rumour that Satsre made his own decision to attack has been around for a while.

Most likely, Sastre was sick of Andy looking around all the time (which he was doing back then as well) and said " screeew you guys, im going!!!"

I clearly remember Fränk Schleck sulking at the press conference before the Alpe d'Huez stage because he would have to sacrifice the yellow jersey. But it might be my memory playing tricks.

And that kind of women could snap him like a twig....:D

Andy is Criticized because he has not delivered on his potential. Zero world tour stage race wins for the "2nd best GC rider" is not good enough. He also has a big mouth
He can listen to the criticism and be motivated by them ,to prove his detractors wrong.
I personally think he lacks the winning mentality and Killer instinct to become a champion,
but he may be able to develop these attributes.

Nieve then.

Nieve rode himself into a good Gc position rather then ebing an immeadite threat which is what the original post was referring to, or so I assume. Andy's attack was for sure something special, especially considering the nature of he tour compared to that of the giro (would surprise me less to see a 60km attack there). Still, as pointed out he did this after screwing up his race with stupid and idiotic tactics in the first 2 weeks. Evans did well to win the tour, but his competitors rode stupid.

He doesn't seem very serious in wanting to win. Like some kind of spoiled brat running a company that his father built up & eventually will run into the ground. Same story here. Hope he gets spanked hard by Contador and other rising stars so his name can fade into oblivion. Looking forward to what kind of pathetic excuses he will come up with in 2012 when he loses.

andy schleck starts for argentina in vuelta chile today. lol

Nahh, that couldn't be Andy. He and Frank are severely knock-kneed (seriously, but maybe not severely) and this guy is pretty bowlegged.:D
