Still smarting after Colorado turned out to be a steaming pile, just like we predicted. Don't worry. Maybe by this tume next year you will have gotten over it.

LOL! Steaming pile? Hey Bro, you can choose to look at things however you want. The Colorado race was what it was. Make what you want of that.

One thing's for sure, many communities are jockeying for position and anteing up some pretty big bids to be a part of the race. If the TDU or the Colorado race, aren't "core" enough for you that's fine, I'm sure you'll find something else to do with your time and you wont be missed.

Meh.

Seems a pretty rubbish race to me but I can't say I object to its existing. Just keep it in January while there's no racing going on in Europe and don't expect me to bother watching proper races til the Omloop rolls around at the end of February. Ditto races in the Middle East.

I get more pleasure from watching the Tour of Qatar than the TDU. At least Qatar pays the riders WAGs to come over and hang out in the 6 star hotels. Plus they get a shopping budget. Once TDU turns it into a networking event then it might have promise but pretending its World Tour and having Lance opening fake hospitals really didn't cut it. Qatar is 10 years ahead of Australia in a business sense.... and probably 30 years ahead of the US and UK for that matter.

Does that mean Australia is 20 years ahead of the US and the UK then? I don't think people get it, if the South Australian Government doesn't want to fork out the money, another state will, most likely Victoria. Personally I would rather the event in Queensland and starting from the Gold Coast than some white elephant event that will be the 2018 Commonwealth Games.

Yes Armstrong has "sponsor commitments"

http://www.adelaidenow.com.au/news/...test-race-growth/story-e6freawu-1226209591498

Armstrong's manager yesterday confirmed the seven-time Tour de France winner did not plan to be in Adelaide for a fourth consecutive year in January.

The world's most famous cyclist, a cancer survivor, retired from the professional peloton after riding in this year's Tour Down Under.

It was hoped Armstrong may return to visit the Flinders Centre for Innovation in Cancer, which incorporates the Livestrong Cancer Research Centre, due for completion in March.

But his manager said sponsor commitments in the US meant at this stage the Texan had no plans to fly Down Under for the January race.

Flinders Medical Centre Foundation chief executive Deborah Heithersay said she was confident, however, that Armstrong would visit the centre early next year. An official opening date is yet to be decided.

TDU organisers are banking on special guest Eddy Merckx, who is considered the greatest cyclist of all time, and the launch of the new Australian professional cycling team GreenEDGE, being major drawcards next year.

Thanks Hog, for managing to try to make every thread about Lance Armstrong.
