Basso trying to grind everyone into dust like it was 2006, but in reality it was 2012 and he didn't really have it anymore. Scarponi also wasn't his former 2010-2011-self. I believe that to really be the main reason for that race being bad, and its not like Basso didn't try, he just couldn't go any faster so its hard to blame the guy.

This year is perfect, since without mentioned situations at this toxic forum some posters will loose their healthy will trying to find their next toy to wring their guts out of and throw on the floor.
And that would not be good for the great entertainment this spectacle always delivers!

Is this the best race ever?
I visited Gijón and Oviedo on a family holiday back in 2005, but I was more into football at the time, so getting to see the Estadio El Molinón was my highlight from that trip.

I hadn't watched that many races before the 2006 Tour de France, and I only became a fan of Samu due to the Cuenca stage and his performances in the final weeks of that season. I can't have known about this stage win until much later, so it isn't on my list. It's a shame he never won the Vuelta a Asturias, but neither did his fellow Asturian legend José Manuel Fuente.

Top 5 best races of all time in the history of the cycling:

-2012 Itzulia
-2021 Lombardia
-2019 tour of the Alpes
-2015 Giro d'italiA
-2017 vuelta a burgos

Honourable mentions 2018 tour of hainan, 2018 Sanremo and 2014 tour de france

Perhaps the top five in your viewing life or recent life, I seem to recall the 1989 Tour as being pretty good.
Although based on the one hour highlights available to me at the time.
