Actually in the last weeks, we see more stupid and hilarious propaganda in another thread to try to label a slovenian rider as the next/or better than eddy merckx, i don't see that stupid propaganda in Remco thread during the last months.
If you are talking about the title of Remco thread, it was just a joke, because nobody will be close to Eddy Merckx, not Remco, not Pogacar, not Vingegaard or Roglic.
The legacy of Merckx is in another almost unreachable level.
Talking about Remco and ayuso.....a win is always a win. Certainly Ayuso already faced "farmers" in stage races and he still didn't won anything until now.

Hondarribia is very nice, there's a beautiful square with some good pintxo places at the top of the hill. It may be most advantageous to wander over to Irun for travel purposes, you have access to the Euskotren there and also have the opportunity then to use the Renfe train to head inland within Gipuzkoa to places like Tolosa and Ordizia-Beasain.

Dont think so. This race is not the best measuring stick for determining who is the best stage-racer currently out of the two of them. The climbs arent long enough here imo and it is more rolling terrain on narrow roads with shorter/medium climbs, where some are more steep than others.
Catalunya, Romandie, Suisse, Dauphine.... outside of the GTs, of course, is better imo to answer the question.

I mean in terms of a big race in which several Bigs are present anew, and then it will be time to reasses at the Dauphine and again the Tour. With this crop of talent it's an ongoing analysis.

I'm unsure what to think of the criticism of the route. I get that the selection of climbs isn't very inspiring and the stages aren't looking overly hard. But the route is consistant in this which is way better than a hard route with one outstanding mtf which will completely determine the outcome of the gc. There is no straight forward stage to gain back any time lost in the TT but at least 3 where people will probably try to do so. That honestly sounds pretty good to me.

What will happens iztulia is not relevant for what he will happen in the Tour, no conclusions can be draw after the results on iztulia, because the Tour will not have decisive stages like the muritos of iztulia, like always.
The Dauphine is different, because it's just 3 weeks before the Tour, and the route of the Dauphine is a good sample of the route of the Tour, especially the last week and half.

I didn't say what happens in Itzulia is relevant to the Tour (Liege, yes, however), for that we have the Dauphine (potentially). What I meant, as far as stage racing is concerned, is that we need updated data to work with, which now starts in the Basque country.

If Krebellin was closer to the finish maybe. But that climb is 67km from the end. Why would Vingegaard want to chew up his reserves on a 67km solo for a week long race in April? Long raids are Remco territory. That is how he became world champion.

Expectations are higher because this race is usually good. Abject mediocrity and 5% tempo grinders are as much a travesty to the spirit of País Vasco as a route with no short walls in the Marche is a travesty to Tirreno-Adriatico or an edition of the Ronde van Vlaanderen where they only used tarmacked climbs like Knokteberg, Nieuwe Kruisberg, Leberg and Berendries.

I think everything is relevant. Of course it’s relevant that Ayuso beat Remco in Vuelta. And at the same time it’s relevant that Remco may have been ill-prepared…

There are two stages with 5% climbs as the final challenge, the rest are harder.
Got luck to you and Rick in getting "at least two bunch sprints" with Remco and Jonas in this field.

I can't see Remco or Roglic beating Vingegaard even if they put 30 seconds on him in the TT.
Ayuso had also been injured and only done Romandie before Suisse.
It is not like he had the perfect season or build-up to either Suisse or the Vuelta, because didnt he crash in Circuito de Getxo - Memorial Hermanos Otxoa as well? Not even accounting for the lack of race days.
Itzulia seems tailor-made for Remco and the hope that he can challenge in the Tour lives on for a few more months.

But probably it will be a really close race unless someone either smash the TT or is so much stronger than the rest on the climbs.
