Benji strikes me as being about clicks and building a brand. Not sure how genuine this sentiment is, I suspect it's more about generating a debate and the subsequent engagement on the platform.
Honestly, there are way worse examples out there of persons who tweet to generate engagement, specially of some pseudo journalists for some of the sport news websites.

Of course Benji also does it in a way, but at least for me I know that when I read something from him it's somewhat sensible and received some thought about it, which isn't always the case.

When I see accounts that resort usually to TALK LIKE THIS LIKE IT'S THE HOLY GRAIL JUST BEING DISCOVERED is when I tune out and start to read with contempt when it appears on my feed.

No argument, my objection is personal. I react to him a bit because he's trying to stretch what he's been doing and clearly trying to make a career as a content creator. To me he's not yet smooth enough to be comfortable in his own skin, and I get a bit of a reaction to that awkwardness. Feels a bit like a geek trying to enter the world of athletes and it doesn't come off as well as it might. Comes off as awkward and trying too hard. But he's OK, no big problem with him. Just passing comments.

So what I'm getting out of this is that you hate nerds

(to clarify: this is in jest)

He's a complete nerd and emotional about it yes. Relatable :joycat:

Big deal, delayed, neutralized. Whatever, it doesn't matter. What matters is that all ambulances occupied means a big deal in a race by default. Trying to dispute this is foolish.

ok fine, it was a "big deal" in terms of it requiring the race to be stopped. but if three pro conti spanish riders crashed out of the race the uproar about who and what to blame would have been nowhere near as loud and Kirby wouldn't be on air saying that he couldn't even look at the screen anymore and that nobody should race or celebrate.

Every time i see the footage, it seems like there is a bump in the road, you can see riders hopping. In the google maps link somebody posted, i can't see a bump, but you can see tracks in the asphalt, probably made by heavy trucks throughout the years. Maybe this is the cause?
Even a little seam can cause you to lose the contact patch and when you are leaning over turning probably more extreme

Fair enough, I don't watch his Youtube videos so I don't know how it is. :p

Blame shifting is a coping mechanism when emotions can't handle ones own thoughts. It's human.
Can I contact you later about stuff that happened in my childhood? My parents were not the best, and I didn't always get a new bicycle for my birthday and Christmas! Parents were abusive w some of the food served at our house, my mom was not a chef.. If you get what I mean.. Please feel free to type some analysis!! LoL

The statute of limitations has run out for the crime of not getting enough hugs as a child.

I'm my opinion, the two crashes in the last two weeks were caused by this obsession with 'needing to be a the front to be out of trouble'. It was never the case 10/15 years ago. Last week's crash was because everyone wanted to be near the front before a climb 80km to go in a semi classic, like seriously if you are a few positions out of position before climb 80km out, it isn't a big deal. But commentators and riders constantly talk about 'having to be at the front'. Heck, in TA, Vingegaard was wasting so much energy riding literally in 2nd wheel before sprints. It's unnecessary and has been over overexagerated way to much by sports directors and commontators, and the two crashes in question are a result of this IMO.

Great, self critical interview of Pello Bilbao indeed with this part being the key take away: 'creo que nosotros tenemos que reflexionar como propios ciclistas porque quizas somos lo que creiamos lo peligro'. I would like to say 'there's not a word Spanish in there but that wouldn't be true.

My old commentator have said the same since 2020. He hates race radios for this reason.

It makes all sense in the world that radios gonna make riders less focused! Anyone saying anything else doens't know how the brain works imo.
In one of the tweets posted above, Madouas says that radios "make you more nervous, but above all they let you know where the danger lies, which helps you avoid crashes (e.g. gravel on bends)."
