Rodriguez easily charged ahead of his British rival on the closing sprint, outdistancing him without problem. He took the win and gained five seconds, as well as the bonus seconds. Valverde was third at 10 seconds, with Contador only fourth, a whole 18 seconds down.
Contador had a bad day.oldcrank said:Looked a little too easy for him to ride away from the biggest doper in the race.
Is there anyone (recently) where just by going by what their teams were/are you could make an argument that they could be clean? I appreciate you gave some context as well as the teams but just curious.hrotha said:Purito turned pro with ONCE in 2001. His having to work for Valverde is often brought up as a reason why he wasn't this good before (and he was pretty underrated, IMO), but then again he also rode for Saunier Duval (!) where he wasn't on anyone's leash and he didn't deliver the same kind of goods at all. While he was always a very good rider, his breakthrough season (when he became world class) only came in 2010, at 31, upon joining Katusha, one hell of a dodgy team (Colom, Pfannberger, Galimzyanov, Kolobnev, Pozzato, alleged links with Ferrari).
OK, we can go on from there.

How is he the worst? Not saying he's clean but there are a LOT of riders I'd say are more suspicious.Cycle Chic said:When is this little g*t gona get popped ? he's the worst doper of them all.

Cycle Chic on Rodriguez: He's 36 and still podiums in most races. Ridiculous !
harryh on Dumoulin: He's young, looking good on and off cycle etc.
Another amazing transformation...hrotha said:Purito only became world class at 31 when he joined ultra-dodgy Katyusha. His in-character performances are already highly suspicious because of that, even if we forget he's 36.
