I find it both incredible and appalling that Jocelyn Lovell's recent death at 65 didn't merit any mention whatsoever in Cycling News. He was one of the best, if not the best, cyclist in Canadian history.
Isn't it supposed to be the pre-eminent site for professional cycling?
Lovell won six Commonwealth Games medals, including four golds. In addition, he won a silver medal in 1978 at the World's and two gold medals at the 1971 and 1975 Pan-Am games. In 2015, he was inducted to the Canadian Cycling Hall of Fame.
In 1983, he was struck by a dump truck while out training west of Toronto. The truck driver was never found and the accident left Jocelyn as a quadriplegic. Since that time, Lovell worked tirelessly in Canada as an advocate of increased research into spinal cord injuries.
