Jonas Vingegaard: Godzilla, the King of Monsters

Jonas Vingegaard and Tadej Pogacar are currently in the midst of the fight to win the Tour de France. On the Danish website Feltet, sports physiologist Nikolai Baastrup, head of the Department of Nutrition at the University of Copenhagen, has conducted an investigation on both cyclists and concluded that they are not doping. In fact, he wanted to compare their performance with that of Lance Armstrong and Marco Pantani, giving a curious opinion.

"I have analyzed his training data, stress tests, medical analysis and much more data from the last few years and there is something that allows me to give enormous credibility to his performances and that is that he has had a stable sporting development, his achievements have not been something that comes out of the blue, overnight as happened in the times of the free epo bar and blood transfusions," commented the Dane about Vingegaard in statements translated by the Diario del Triatlón.
"What Pogacar and Vingegaard are achieving is within the parameters that human beings can achieve in a natural way even if you see very high levels of watts/kilo."
LOL! Could he define natural for me please, I'd love to drop 7.0 w/kg watt bombs on my weekend group rides :)

Imagine +70kg me dropping such a watt bomb on Tre Cime, would be glorious.

today they could average 50km/h :) , they are clean :)
Do not get me wrong!
They are still super humans, for me it is so hard to bike everyday 60 to 80 km and i am not in the mountains.
They take a lot of pain and on Tv it seems so easy.
I just want them to come clean and say they take stuff and to let everyone take some certain substances.
TOUR DE FRANCE CAN NOT BE WON CLEAN.
On covid many cyclists doped :)
I think that they take young talents, they doped them and they when they come to pro they already have a nice BIO PASS.
I really think that doping now starts on teenagers
I have been training on Mallorca every year, riding more than 20.000 km per year and i can not push more than 4.5watts average on a climb in France

I hate to admit it but he kinda reminds me of Froome. Everything in his style of riding and strengths. He learned to keep his arms in a reasonable position to avoid clone accusations but nevertheless he has the exact same expression to me. As for the numbers I am no expert, I can only go on what I've seen the last 30 years and in that sense he is up there with Riis, Rasmussen, Froome.

Max aerobic power is protocol dependent, typically achieved at the end of a stepwise vo2max test, but on the road would be associated with a 4-6min sustained effort.

Vingo held similar w/kg for a lot longer.

And if I remember correctly, Lance's fully doped up threshold power (think 45-60min efforts) was around 480-510w. Stated it in a podcast quite recently.

Oxygen vector dope works, even if Lance probably was not clean at the time of testing.
Needs to be mentioned lab tests are often at sea level. Racing conditions should be quite different.

Contador posted power data of doing like 7W/kg for 20 minutes from I think it was 2016, when he crashed but going by the Dauphine he wasn't that great that year.

IIRC Contador did 460 W for 20 minutes before 2009 and he was heaps lighter than Lance.

IT WAS ON 2010 AGAINST Schleck
Contador was on beast mode also with over 7watts sometimes, around 7.3W/KG
