So, is your local newspaper coverage of races like the Tour growing, declining or staying about the same?

As an example, last year at this time we had nothing more than a daily post-it sized (2-in by 2-in) short paragraph of race results. This year our local newspaper sports page has featured quarter-page to half-page sized articles with pictures. Today’s was even on page 2 of the sports section and showed Andre the Giant pipping Cav at the line. Maybe having relatively new local guys riding the Tour (Farrar, Van Garderen) helps some. But I don’t ever recall articles being that big even in the LA era.

In my paper, it's just a basic list. Stage results and GC.

Of course I don't even read the paper anymore!

Since Ryder's break out performance last year the local coverage of all things cycling has grown. I think that racing isn't growing nearly as much as fondos and events aimed at JQ citizen.

What is this thing? News paper?

Haha. I was wondering if that would come up. I originally thought about making it coverage by "media" in general. But were I'm from there is no TV coverage other than Versus and only if you have cable OFC. So for many here, the darn paper is it. Besides I was mainly interested in how much local media is tuned in to bike racing. But I'd be open to changing it to media in general. I guess i should vote now.
