Terrible news.

The stress that these people put their bodies under... How many of this generation will live past 80?

Edit: see there's a thread in the main forum, obviously this is a clinic topic though.

heart attack at 32 is a terrible thing, these guys are really destroying themselves. What good is the money if you dont live past 40?

The thing is that it will be swept under the carpet by the media and the UCI just like all of the other riders who have lost their careers due to the drugs.

That Kirchen has had a heart attack won't stop the Uniballer charging, it won't stop Riis from charging the Schlecks, it won't make Contador think twice before putting the needle in his arm, it won't make the UCI think 'should we get a grip on this issue'.

It's not the stress, plenty of pro athletes live to be very old. Mostly if they continue to take care of themselves after retiring. While not a cyclist, take a look at Jack Lalanne.
