As released on his afficial web site romankreuziger.com and Czech media, he knows there are just two possible targets left at TdF in respect of his ambitions: winning a stage or the best climber competition. Of course, I'd preffer to see him compeeting all the stages, so him to be focused on the ascents starting in Pyrenees.

Can he manage to win polka dotted jersey ane who do you guess could be his most serious opponents here?

If he is healthy and wants to target it then he most certainly can win it because he is so far down on the GC that he will be given his freedom by the peloton and he is an excellent climber.

Apart from the GC contenders who might win the competition by "accident" David Moncoutie would seem to be the main rival, particularly after he dropped more time today (setting up for an attack on Thursday?).

I certainly rate him higher as a climber than both Hoogerland and Voeckler. As for other riders that may be contending, maybe someone like Cunego? If he loses a lot of time early in the mountains (not unthinkable) he could go for polka dots. Voeckler definitely seems like his biggest opponent, he knows when to get into a breakaway and he has the legs to pull it off.

He's already 46 minutes behind so I don't think he has to lose any time to go for the jersey. I'm guessing that if he's reasonably on form and none of the elite climbers go for it he might have a very good chance. Voeckler is a very good rider but in the high mountains (where the vast amount of points are this year) he normally can't keep up with Kreuziger.

I ment riders such as Cunego, losing time (Luz Ardiden for example) and then deciding to go for Polka Dots

EDIT: Also agree with Ramira if Moncoutie decides to put his mind to it (you never know) he can be a dangerous candidate.

Ah ok, I misread that one, my bad. That being said I think Cunego really wants to test himself and if he can't go along in the high mountains I see him trying for a stage win before he'll go for the Polka dots (and even if he goes for it if Kreuziger is on form he should be able to take him, although Cunego does have a nasty punch). Either way Kreuziger has a decent chance of getting it.

Unless his wrist is a lot better he'll be in the bus - you can't compete in the mountains riding one-handed

Coming into the race he was one I liked for the mountains jersey as he would be following the path of his ex-teammate Pellizotti in fnishing high up in the Giro and then not having the energy to do GC in the Tour but enough to do KOM

What about the context?

Like, is this something that he is actually aiming for or merely stating what is left to salvage from this Tour?

I think "left to salvage" statement is closer to the intending meaning. It comes from the fact Vino is out and Roman already lost much time to go for white jersey or to fight GC.

He said that his primary target now is winning a stage, but if there would be a chance and his wrist is ok he would like to try to fight for polka dot jersey.

Get into a break on a mountain stage, try to win the stage, if you win on a summit finish then you are a candidate for the polka dots. Simples.

I don't think he is up to anything, just wasted after the Giro/his crash earlier. I say he will have one good stage when he will ride for the win and that's it.
