I am surprised that this collection of articles from The Sunday Times hasn't received more comment. They show that as far back as 1999 many were aware of the truth behind the Armstrong myth, that the UCI was fully aware of the extent of Epo use in the peloton and so forth, and yet it has taken till this year for what was obvious then to be accepted.

There is some really excellent reading in this, including the article that led to The Times being sued for libel by Armstrong.

In the words of Vincenzo Santini, the manager of the Cantina Tollo team, as quoted in the first article in the book:

"I hope that the governments and the cycling authorities can find a way out of the mess that cycling is in. Until that happens we can forget the joy of the victory. And in cycling, that is the most beautiful thing."

Could have been said yesterday.
