Last visited...

I suspect this is deep in the software, and probably beyond the reach of admins here, but the bolding of any thread updated since the last visit, and the "jump to the first post since my last visit" button, while potentially very useful, are seriously compromised by the triggers that reset that time.

If I read the Professional road racing board last night, and then go to another thread this morning before visiting the PRR board, only the threads on PRR that have been updated since I visited that other tread (half an hour before, rather than several hours before) are bolded and quickly jump-to-able.

Is there any way that the index page for each board could retain its own memory of last visits? That would allow the function to meet its intention.

Indeed, it's well beyond our access levels.

I suspect that the reason that this is so, has to do with the added pressure on the servers (database calls).

Now they only check against one cookie/entry [last time online]. If they wanted to track what you suggest [which would be ideal], then they have to track each last visit to each thread for each user. With the traffic we have, and cookie limitations, that would probably trigger quite a considerable additional burden on the servers.

Damn, this was my query too. Does get annoying for keeping up with threads. Are the powers that be, looking at any sort of server upgrades somewhere in the future?
